Metaetyczne podstawy zmiany rozumienia wartości w etyce Petera Singera (w kontekście jego rozważań o wartości życia ludzkiego)

Der Artikel präsentiert metaethische Grundlagen für die Möglichkeit, die soziale Wahrnehmung der Werte in Anlehnung an die Analyse der Schriften von Peter Singer zu verändern. Es wird die These aufgestellt, dass Singer das Prinzip der Interessenabwägung als das Beurteilungsinstrument der vorgeschlagenen Veränderungen in den sozialen Werten anwendet. Einen innovativen Akzent des Artikels stellt die Bemerkung dar, dass einige Veränderungen im Verständnis des Wertes des menschlichen Lebens und ihre Implikationen, die aus der Anwendung des Prinzips der gleichen Interessenabwägung in der ethischen Reflexion (die vom Philosophen auf einem kritischen Niveau der moralischen Schlussfolgerung geführt wird) resultieren, nicht als Prinzipien auf intuitivem Niveau verbreitet werden können, wegen der Anwendung des Prinzips der gleichen Interessenabwägung auf metaethischem Niveau.

Following an analysis of Peter Singer’s works the article reviews metaethical grounds for possible change of perception regarding social values. The author asserts that Singer applies the principle of equal consideration of interests as a tool to assess proposed changes in societal values. The novel point made in this paper is the observation that some changes in perceiving the values of human life and their implications arising from applying the principle of equal consideration of interests in ethical reflection conducted by the philosopher on the critical level of moral reasoning, cannot be promoted as principles on the intuitive level due to the application of the principle of equal consideration of interests on the metaethical level.

Artykuł przedstawia metaetyczne podstawy dla możliwości zmiany społecznego postrzegania wartości, w oparciu o analizę prac Petera Singera. Tezą artykułu jest, że Singer stosuje zasadę równego rozważania interesów jako narzędzie oceny proponowanych zmian w wartościach społecznych. Nowatorskim akcentem artykułu jest dostrzeżenie, że niektóre zmiany w rozumieniu wartości życia ludzkiego oraz ich implikacje wynikające z zastosowania zasady równego rozważania interesów w refleksji etycznej, prowadzonej przez filozofa na krytycznym poziomie rozumowania moralnego, nie mogą być popularyzowane jako zasady ma poziomie intuicyjnym, ze względu na zastosowanie zasady równego rozważania interesów na poziomie metaetycznym.

Temperance and prudence as virtues of an effective altruist

The aim of the paper is to analyze the importance of two virtues: temperance and prudence for genesis of the Effective Altruism and practice of life of effective altruists, on the basis of philosophical works of two main representatives of the idea and movement: Peter Singer and William MacAskill. In the first part of the paper genesis of the movement and its basic assumptions are presented. Then, the paper focuses on the role of temperance and prudence in both theoretical refl ection on effective altruism and practice of life of people identifying themselves with the movement, with reference to Aristotle’s understanding of the virtues. It is argued, that these virtues are crucial in the practice of life of an effective altruist. In the last part the paper focuses on the idea that Effective Altruism is in a sense an alternative to consumerism and can play a role in bringing mentioned virtues back into public life.

W artykule została podjęta próba zrekonstruowania znaczenia cnót umiarkowania i rozsądku dla powstania ruchu filozoficzno­‑społecznego: Efektywnego Altruizmu i praktyki życia efektywnych altruistów w oparciu o publikacje jego kluczowych przedstawicieli: Petera Singera i Williama MacAskilla. W pierwszej części artykułu krótko referuję genezę i filozoficzne podstawy Efektywnego Altruizmu. Następnie staram się określić rolę rozsądku i umiarkowania w teoretycznych rozważaniach nad efektywnym altruizmem oraz w praktyce życia osób utożsamiających się z ruchem, w odniesieniu do rozumienia tych cnót zaprezentowanego przez Arystotelesa. Przedstawione rozumowanie wspiera tezę, że cnoty te mają kluczowe znaczenie dla praktyki codziennego życia efektywnych altruistów. Ostatnia część koncentruje się wokół spostrzeżenia, że Efektywny Altruizm może być w pewnym sensie alternatywą dla postawy konsumpcjonistycznej i przyczynić się do rehabilitacji tytułowych cnót w życiu publicznym.

W artykule opisano próbę analizy zasadności wykorzystania informatycznych narzędzi wspierających zwinne zarządzanie projektami oraz określenia modelowych cech, którymi powinno charakteryzować się takie oprogramowanie, aby zaspokoić oczekiwania konkretnych członków zespołów projektowych w każdej fazie ich realizacji (koncepcyjnej, planowania, produkcji, testowania w fazie operacyjnej). Rozważania prowadzono, opierając się na wynikach pogłębionych wywiadów, przeprowadzonych wśród członków zespołów projektowych realizujących zadania w sektorze inżynierii oprogramowania.

In this paper we described an attempt of the analysis the legitimacy of the use of tools to support project management and to determine the characteristics of the model, which should have the tools to meet the needs of post-specific members project teams at every level of implementation (planning, design, production, testing and management). The data we used was collected by in-depth interviews conducted with members of the software engineering project teams.
