The article deals with the problem of foster parenting understood as a person-oriented social service in the context of the “crisis of foster families” observed in developed countries. The trap of massification of fostering as a service addressed to all children was indicated, which is connected with the a priori assumption about the effectiveness and efficiency of this form of childcare. The article refers to the concept of children’s services and children’s spaces and discusses the consequences of service narratives on the example of substitute parenting in Poland.

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie rodzicielstwa zastępczego rozumianego jako zorientowana na osobę usługa społeczna w kontekście obserwowanego w krajach rozwiniętych gospodarczo „kryzysu rodzin zastępczych”. Wskazano pułapkę umasowienia rodzicielstwa zastępczego jako usługi adresowanej do wszystkich dzieci, wynikającej z przyjęcia apriorycznych założeń o efektywności i skuteczności tej formy opieki nad dziećmi. W artykule odwołano się do koncepcji children’s services i children’s spaces oraz omówiono konsekwencje narracji usług na przykładzie rodzicielstwa zastępczego w Polsce.
