The article studies the rendering of the main apophatic notions in the classic Old Bulgarian literary monuments. The terms of this subsystem are presented in their conceptual and linguistic aspects and, based on this; conclusions are made for the development of the terminological layer of lexis in the Old Bulgarian language. A dictionary of the apophatic terms in the classic Old Bulgarian literary monuments is proposed. It gives the empirical basis for the research.

The article presents the educational materials of the course “Cyril and Methodius Studies for Young and Old”, which is a part of the EU project-based “Heritage BG” E-learning platform of the Cyril and Methodius Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Science. The societal need of such an initiative is backed with arguments. The aims and purposes of the course as well as the means of achieving them are clearly defined. The principles underlying the system of amusement games and exercises offered are laid down. The article highlights the expected benefits of the new educational resource “Cyril and Methodius Studies for Young and Old” of the E-platform of the Cyril and Methodius Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Science as a whole. Finally specific elaborations and suggestions on various topics uploaded on the website are shown.

This paper sets out to investigate the liturgical terminology in the newly identified Southern Slavonic epitome of Ἑρμηνεία περὶ τοῦ θείου ναοῦ by Simeon of Thessaloniki, extant in two manuscripts in the contents of the c16th codices of Serbian origin Mss RGADA 88 (84a -87a) and BOGISHICH 52 (122b, 133, 124). The presence of these copies in the body of works attributed to Constantine of Kostenets suggests that this translation tools associated with the name of that Bulgarian man of letters. On the basis of the word group examined, this investigation sets out to collate the text under analysis with the preceding literary tradition as well as to reach conclusions about the development of the respective terminological system while highlighting the peculiarities of the translator’s style, which should provide further arguments for attributing this written record. The special designations belonging to the liturgical sphere are characterized according to different criteria: belonging to a lexicosemantic group, grammatical class, and structural types. The researcher shares some of her observations on the peculiar usage of particular morphological categories with common words used as terms in this written record, analyses the means of terminological nomination with particular emphasis on the semantic and syntactical word formation. The researcher concludes that in the liturgical terminological system of the text there is a balance between the native and the loan words, between the native and the foreign means of term formation. All the techniques of terminological nomination known from the theory of terminology are used to create specific appellations also in the remaining spheres of theology. This makes the terminological system under consideration a part of the layer of the special theological vocabulary in the history of Bulgarian.
