Education aiming at popularization of peace ideas did not enjoy popularity and their supporters were exposed to danger. That paper shows the tendencies and perspectives of peace pedagogy in Germany before the World War I and in the second half of the 20th century. It describes both general tendencies and the attitude of selected educationalists. The tragic consequences of the education based on violence and militarism are also presented in the paper. Alina Boccardo serves as an example of the person engaged in promoting peace ideas.
