The article presents the origins and outline of activities of the Polish Interpress Agency in the years 1967-1980. The Agency was established as a result of the merger of 'Polonia' Publishing House, Zachodnia Agencja Prasowa (Western Press Agency) and the foreign department of the Agencja Robotnicza ARPRESS (ARPRESS Workers' Agency). It was a press- and information agency that specialised in services for abroad and was the Polish equivalent of the Soviet 'Nowosti' Press Agency. In 1991 it was transformed into the Polish Information Agency (PAI).

The article provides a general characteristics of press bulletins published by the Polish Press Agency (PAP) in the years 1944-1990. The authoress examines the development of the PAP bulletins, taking as a point of departure the criterion of social access to the information.
