Zarówno porównania, jak i metafory zawierające nazwy własne pełnią ważne funkcje stylistyczne, mają wpływ na walory artystyczne, estetyczne tekstów. Ale prócz tego mają równie ważną rolę semantyczną. Wzbogacają warstwę treściową utworów o skojarzenia związane z nazwami i ich denotatami, z całą szeroko pojętą kulturą i historią, do której się te nazwy odwołują, i do wartości ideowych, które się pod nimi kryją. Pod warunkiem, że potrafimy je właściwie odczytać.

In the article we can see ordered and discussed specific names that have been used by Juliusz Słowacki in comparisons and metaphors. Studying of the texts proved that such names (personal and geographic) occur more often in comparisons, usually in the comparing section. The personal and geographic names used by the poet can be found in both Old and New Testament, while the personal names occur much more often than the geographic ones. The same specific names also occur in terminological metaphors, far less frequent. The discussed comparisons and metaphors, beside the aesthetic function, perform also an important semantic role - they enrich the content layer of the composition with associations related to broadly comprehended concepts of culture and history to which they refer, and to idealistic values hidden underneath.
