This article affirms the importance of family relationships for the economic development of society. The first part shows that, in many aspects, the global economic system is devoid of relational goods. Assuming that the human family “is the first and most important school of mercy”, it is underlined, in the second part, that, also in the economic field, we need to put into practice that kind of merciful relationships that privilege being over having and do not appeal to an invisible hand to justify the indifference towards humans and nature. The third part presents some current initiatives that show the importance of family relationships for an integral development.

W artykule ukazano zjawisko interakcji i komunikacji jako fundamentalne założenie istnienia wszystkiego co jest. Wszystko co zostało stworzone jest przeznaczone do spotkania we wspólnym domu i funkcjonowania w relacjach życzliwości i braterstwa. W pierwszej części artykułu autor przedstawił kryzys ekologiczny w powiązaniu z kryzysem rodzinnym, ponieważ rodzina jest podstawową strukturą i głównym czynnikiem integralnej ekologii (Amoris laetitia, n. 277). Należy chronić granic tego przyjaznego środowiska, w którym człowiek rozwija swoje podstawowe relacje i przygotowuje się do życia w komunii z Bogiem, z innymi i ze wszystkimi stworzeniami (Laudato si’, n. 240). W drugiej części artykułu autor zarysował podstawy teologiczne i antropologiczne paradygmatu relacyjności. Podkreślił, że ukazane przymioty zaangażowania ekologicznego mogą zaistnieć tylko wtedy, gdy kultywowane są relacje rodzinne i doskonalone cnoty (Laudato si’, n. 211).

This paper presents interaction and communication as essential aspects of all that exists. Everything has been created for the affectionate and fraternal encounter in the common home. The first part asserts that the ecological crisis is a family crisis, because the parental family is the “fundamental structure” and principal agent of an integral ecology (AL 277). We need to protect the boundaries of this welcoming environment, where the human being develops his fundamental relationships and prepares himself “to live in communion with God, with others, and with all creatures.” (LS 240) The second part presents some theological and anthropological bases for a more relational paradigm. That implies a generous ecological commitment which is only possible when we cultivate family relationships and “sound virtues.” (LS 211).

Opierając się na godności i nieodłącznej relacyjnej naturze osoby ludzkiej, autor ten podkreśla znaczenie relacji braterskich i rodzinnych w życiu społecznym i polityce. Zbyt wiele marzeń o integracji politycznej zostało ostatnio zburzonych, budując w zamian nowe mury agre­sywnego nacjonalizmu i izolacjonizmu. W tej sytuacji ludzie na całym świecie odczuwają potrzebę dobrej polityki i „potężnego zastrzyku ducha rodzinnego” (AL 183). W rzeczywistości nie może być powszechnego braterstwa bez dobrej polityki, która „opiera się na prawie i na lojalnym dialogu między stronami” (FT 196).

Based on the dignity and intrinsic sociability of the human person, this article asserts the importance of fraternity and family relationships in social life and politics. Too many dreams about political integration have been shattered lately, while new walls of aggressive nationalism and isola­tionism are being built. In this situation, people everywhere feel the need for good politics and for “a healthy injection of family spirit.” (AL 183) However, there can be no universal fraternity without good politics “built upon respect for law and frank dialogue between individuals.” (FT 196)
