The article presents the issue of mobility as an element of the development of the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis. Mobility is an important element of the metropolitan’s functioning. The aim of the research is to identify the factors of mobility development in the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis from the perspective of collective and individual transport users. The article presents the results of theoretical and especially empirical research connected with the needs of mobility development in the Górnośląsko- -Zagłębiowska Metropolis. The research results indicate the need to develop mobility based on rail transport. The vast majority of transport users notice the necessity of changes and the need to break the existing asymmetry of road transport – for the development of rail transport. The change of the unfavorable trend of excessive development of road transport caused disturbances in the functioning of passenger transport.

Przedmiotem badań zawartych w artykule jest kwestia mobilności jako elementu wsparcia rozwoju Metropolii Śląsko-Zagłębiowskiej. Struktura tematyki badań obejmuje zagadnienia teoretyczne związane z identyfikacją i klasyfikacją mobilności oraz różnicami dotyczącymi tego zagadnienia. Część badawcza została oparta na wynikach badań empirycznych. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na silną potrzebę ożywienia transportu kolejowego w celu ograniczenia rozwoju transportu drogowego. Nadmierny rozwój transportu drogowego jest efektem niewłaściwej polityki transportu, jak również powoduje wzrost kongestii w obszarze Metropolii Śląsko-Zagłębiowskiej.

The problem of the article concerns the question of logistics policies, as part of the support competitive regions of the European Union. The structure of their subject matter includes issues related to the identification and classification of theoretical disparities in the region’s competitiveness, determinants of competitiveness and regional development, as well as the importance of logistics policies and objectives of determinants and relationships in the European Union. The author puts forward the following research hypothesis – the right logistic policy (with defined properties) supports the development of the regions of the European Union.

Metropolis logistics is a new research issue that begins to play an important role in shaping inter-organizational relationships. The concept of logistics in metropolitan context is a contemporary term used primarily to identify issues that will improve the transformation of products and information in building inter-organizational efficiency. On the one hand, the issues of metropolitan logistics are based on shaping the flow of products and information in building inter-organizational efficiency. On the other hand, the formation of inter-organizational bonds has a complex and multidimensional structure that creates a specific network of interactions, in which metropolitan logistics determines their development in relation to the environment. The aim of the article is to identify the conditions that build up inter-organizational relations within the Silesian-Zagłębie (Ś-Z) metropolitan area. The article presents selected results of exploratory research carried out among logistic entities operating in the Silesian-Zagłębie metropolitan area. The authors attempted to answer the question: what are the challenges ahead of metropolitan logistics in shaping interorganizational relationships?

Obserwuje się rosnące naciski klientów na jakość informacji i serwisowanie kanałów dostaw zakupionych towarów na terenie metropolii śląsko-zagłębiowskiej. Dlatego wydają się rozsądne zidentyfikowanie oraz klasyfikacja poszczególnych czynników wpływających na strukturę i rozwój łańcuchów dostaw w metropolii śląsko- -zagłębiowskiej, a zatem znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak i dlaczego operatorzy logistyczni rozwijają swoje kanały dostaw od Single Channel Logistics (SC) poprzez kanały wielokanałowe Multi Channel Logistics (MC) i kanały wielokrotne Cross Channel Logistics (CC) do logistyki kanału Omni-Chanel Logistics (OC). Artykuł ma na celu zidentyfikowanie czynników wpływających na zmianę logistyki wielokanałowej SC – MC – CC – OC w sektorze transportu, spedycji i logistyki w metropolii śląsko-zagłębiowskiej.

It has been observed that mutual influencing of on-line and brick and mortar sale channels has been increasing. It is estimated that until 2025 on-line sale will most likely increase five times; at the same time, one may observe increasing customers pressure on the quality of the information and servicing supply channels of the purchased goods within the area of Silesian district. That is why it seems prudent to identify and classify particular factors that influence the structure and the development of the supply chains in the Silesian Voivodeship metropolis and therefore, to find the answer to the question how and why logistic operators develop their supply channels from Single Channel Logistics (SC) through Multi-Channel Logistics (MC) and Cross Channel (CC) to Omni-Channel Logistics (OC). The work preceding the paper was to identify the factors determining the change of SC – MC – CC – OC multi-channel logistics in the business sector of transport, freight forwarding and logistics in Silesian metropolis. The research allowed to conclude that the companies of such area are interested in multichannel logistics, however, its determinants are currently focused on SC type of channels. Moreover, the companies of such business area seem to perceive Silesian metropolis as a platform that would boost their development in multichannel structure.
