This article is an attempt at initiating a discussion on problems involving the future of career management as well as challenges facing researchers looking into such questions. It presents and discusses four proposals: giving careers meaning, the interdependence between managing careers and managing organizations, entities involved in managing careers, and the emerging need for integration of career management processes. The article ends with a proposal for tasks for researchers, educators, and practitioners.
