Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badań empirycznych nad ograniczeniami zbywalności udziałów/akcji współkach pracowniczych. Badania empiryczne zostały przeprowadzone w śród 21 spółek pracowniczych z województwa mazowieckiego, które zawarły umowy o oddanie przedsiębiorstwa państwowego do odpłatnego korzystania w latach 2000–2005 w oparciu o dane Krajowego Rejestru Sądowego.

Background: The empirical research on the differentiation of economic efficiency within employee-owned companies as measured in terms of sales revenue while minimizing the degree of ownership concentration thematically applies toward evaluating the effectiveness of the direct privatisation method implemented by giving a state-owned enterprise for use against payment. Research purpose: The main goal of this article is to empirically verify the research hypothesis, stating that the degree of ownership concentration significantly differentiates the economic efficiency of employee-owned companies in terms of sales revenue. Methods: The empirical verification of this hypothesis was carried out using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which measures the relative technical efficiency of a given decision-making unit (DMU). Empirical studies were conducted on a group of 13 employee-owned companies from the Mazowieckie Province, which concluded agreements with the State Treasury between the years 2000–2005 and covered a 10-year research period. The analysis of sales revenue and the degree of ownership concentration was made on the basis of hand-collected data from documents submitted by surveyed employee-owned companies in the National Court Register in the years between 2002–2017. Conclusions: Presented results of the empirical research do not allow for full confirmation of the research hypothesis because employee-owned companies, in which DEA efficiency measures were lower than the average measure for all surveyed companies were characterized by the different average annual degree of ownership concentration.
Zasadniczym celem opracowania jest przedstawienie rozmiarów i specyfiki własności pracowniczej w krajach europejskich, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem doświadczeń Wielkiej Brytanii i Francji. Podjęta próba scharakteryzowania własności pracowniczej w Europie została przeprowadzona z wykorzystaniem danych publikowanych przez Europejską Federację Akcjonariatu Pracowniczego. W kontekście przyjętego zakresu tematycznego omówiono istotę własności pracowniczej oraz jej rozmiary i specyfikę w krajach europejskich w latach 2007–2011. W oparciu o przeprowadzoną analizę udziału kapitału pracowniczego w wartości przedsiębiorstw i odsetka podmiotów implementujących własność pracowniczą w dużych europejskich przedsiębiorstwach wskazano niewielką jej skalę.
The main objective of the paper is to recognize the level of use of credits and loans as the source of financing for business activity of employee-owned companies. The formulated research hypothesis states that the majority of employee-owned companies financed business activity from credits and loans to a small extent. The empirical investigation of the constructed hypothesis has been carried out among 17 employee-owned companies in the Mazowieckie Province, which concluded privatisation agreements with the State Treasury in the years 2000–2002 on the basis of their financial statements. The empirical research proved that employee-owned companies had financed their business activities from credits and loans to the small extent.

Przeprowadzone badania empiryczne wykazały, iż spółki pracownicze w niewielkim stopniu finansowały działalność gospodarczą z kredytów i pożyczek.
Research background: The conducted empirical research on the influence of the degree of ownership concentration in the employee?owned companies on their sales revenues thematically fits into the issue of efficiency of the direct privatisation method, in particular giving a state?owned enterprise for use against payment. Purpose of the article: The main goal of this article is to verify the research hypothesis stating that in employee?owned companies an increase in the degree of ownership concentration leads to an increase in sales revenues. Methods: The empirical studies were carried out on a sample of 15 employee-owned companies from Mazowieckie Province, which concluded the agreement of giving a state?owned enterprise for use against payment from 2000 to 2004 and using the data from financial statements handed in by these entities to the National Court Register for a ten?year period after the privatisation year. The verification of research hypothesis was based on the estimation of a Cobb?Douglas production function by Ordinary Least Squares method for two variants, differing in the way of measuring the degree of ownership concentration in investigated employee?owned companies. Findings & Value added: The research hypothesis formulated in this paper was verified negatively as the increase in the degree of ownership concentration in employee?owned companies caused the decrease in their sales revenues. The conducted empirical research also suggests that sales revenues in examined employee?owned companies peak at some intermediate/optimal level of ownership concentration.
Research background: Sustainable development at the enterprise level is understood as the integration of economic, environmental and social dimensions aimed at meeting the needs of all firm?s stakeholders in the present and in the future. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate the relationship between economic, environmental and social sustainability performance of a company and its financial performance. Purpose of the article: Considering the business model for sustainability as well as the debatable results of empirical research on the relationship between corporate sustainability performance (CSP) and corporate financial performance (CFP), the essential aim of the paper is to answer the question whether the improvement of corporate sustainability performance in its all particular dimensions brings about higher total revenues (TR) of a company. Methods: The main method of empirical research is panel regression models based on Cobb-Douglas production function, which has been extended to include variables of corporate sustainability scores. The selection between pooled OLS model, random-effects model and fixed-effects model has been made with the use of the F test, the Breusch-Pagan test and the Hausman test. Additionally, descriptive statistics and the Pearson correlation coefficients have been analyzed. The empirical studies were conducted in the period 2014?2019 among the 59 largest U.S. companies listed in the Fortune 500 ranking between 2015?2020. Findings & value added: The research hypothesis assuming the existence of positive relationship between corporate sustainability performance (CSP) at both aggregate and disaggregate levels and corporate financial performance (CFP) expressed by TR cannot be positively verified. It means that the improvement of corporate sustainability performance in environmental, social and governance dimensions does not lead to an increase in TR of a company, as some empirical studies suggest.

The main aim of this article is to present the results of empirical research on the phenomenon of wage pressure occurring in employee-owned companies. Two research hypotheses, which state that: 1) the increase of average wages in employee-owned companies is greater than the average labor productivity growth, what indicates the occurrence of wage pressure, 2) the growth of average wages is lower in employee-owned companies with the higher share of outside investors in ownership structure, have been formulated in the study. The results of empirical studies indicate that labor productivity was the important factor influencing changes of average wages in employee-owned companies, as opposed to factors relating to their ownership structure.
The essential aim of this paper is to examine the relation between the debt and investments in companies using state-owned enterprises against payment. Empirical examinations were conducted among companies using state-owned enterprises against payment from the Mazovian province which entered into an privatization agreement with the State Treasury in years 2000-2001. In examining the relation between the longterm debt to equity ratio and the value of material fixed assets the coefficient of correlation of Spearman's ranks was applied. Conducted empirical examinations don't allow to positively validate the research hypothesis stating, that in companies using state-owned enterprises against payment between the long-term debt and the value of material fixed assets the very strong negative relation exists.
The main aim of this article is to verify the research hypothesis stating that in most employee-owned companies the growth in concentration of ownership is accompanied by the decrease in profitability of assets. Empirical studies were conducted among 15 employee-owned companies from Mazowieckie voivodeship, which concluded an agreement with the State Treasury in the years 2000–2004 on the basis of data from the National Court Register. The results indicate that in the studied employee-owned companies the correlation relationship between concentration of ownership and profitability of assets was both positive and negative.

Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest zweryfikowanie hipotezy badawczej, stanowiącej, iż w większości spółek pracowniczych wzrostowi stopnia koncentracji własności towarzyszy spadek poziomu rentowności majątku. Badania empiryczne zostały przeprowadzone wśród 15 spółek pracowniczych z województwa mazowieckiego, które zawarły umowę o oddanie przedsiębiorstwa państwowego do odpłatnego korzystania w latach 2000–2004, w oparciu o dane z Krajowego Rejestru Sądowego. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, iż w badanych spółkach pracowniczych między koncentracją własności a rentownością majątku występowała zarówno dodatnia, jak i ujemna zależność korelacyjna.
