The aim of implementing Total Quality Management to the public administration is to support the institutions of this sector so that quality of services provided to the customers – the citizens – were constantly improved. The problems of implementation of ISO 900 standards which became more and more essential as a form of work improvement of local and central government administration were pointed out in the article. But the CAF model (Common Assessment Framework) based on model of superiority EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Manage- ment) and adjusted to specific features of public administration seems to be a better tool in improving the quality. Applying each of methods leads to the constant improvement of the service quality in public administration. The questions arise on the satisfaction of the customer-citizen and the role of not only clerks but also citizens in this process. Therefore, in the article the question is posed if this purpose will be achieved better through certification or without it

Among others there are two instruments of communication between organization and its surrounding that happen to be mixed up – the public relations and advertisement. The aim of this paper is to introduce and present these communication instruments taking into consideration only the positive aspects of them. The main objective is to concentrate and to compare PR and advertisement according to chosen by author communication criteria.

The crisis of methodological bases' of science about the management sciences MS) is the most the controversial questions, obstinately recurring and provocative to the various statements. It is then the matter of present status of scientific character of discipline and its future. The introduced position drives to the rejection of the predominant in MS the crisis “sociological” paradigm. It impose the development of discipline according to the conception of social science and introduction of thesis about conception of its development as practical science according to the paradigm “the practical sciences” rules – as more promising for authentic and independent development of science MS in future.

This article aims to demonstrate knowledge and utilization of selected management methods and concepts in educational institutions. Formulated for such purpose were conducted its own survey among headteachers in the Lodz region. The incidence of network services in business environment necessitated a revision of heretofore used management methods. In consequence a virtual management concept was developed. Moreover, for the purpose of virtual organization, new communication systems have been worked adds up with their advantages but also threats. To fight those threats it is necessary to get acquainted with a specific category of emotional intelligence called "virtual emotional intelligence". Through a review of existing in literature definitions on EQ (Emotional Quality, Emotional Intelligence Quotient) – which encompasses intrapersonal, interpersonal and praxeological competences – this study identifies utility of those skills for the employees emotional and cognitive process of adaptation to conditions specific for virtual distance work.

The paper presenting the method of assessing the work based on the of competence system. Amongst many used methods of assessing the work, method based on competence is still rather unpopular although is entering the new quality into the evaluation of the value of the work. This method is, from one side, guaranteeing the methodological correctness of the process itself, and on the other side is bringing a lot of benefits referring to very process (e.g. abandoning traditional criteria of the education), as well as of more late possibilities of using the effect of assessing of competence profiles. Assessing with using competence is opening the doors to later basics of the number of tools of staff management being based on a system of competences.

The crisis is a consequence of risk in business, yet it is the inherent feature of economic activity. Crises more frequently in the Polish reality touch each organization. Unfortunately, practice shows that the managers of most organizations in our country do not attach importance to systematically identify crisis situations, analyze it and develop effective responses and strategies to counter the effects of the crisis. It seems that crisis management is to use traditional management methods in abnormal circumstances – when the lack of both cash and time and some actions are needed and fast.

Relating to the characteristics of the genesis and development of social responsibility - a new paradigm of management, the standards responding to the needs of its implementation were presented in this article. The most important include SA 8000, AA 1000 and ISO26000 standards. The guidelines of these standards could be useful to the leaders of the organizations intending to apply the indicated principles. These standards facilitate also the implementation of social and environmental problems as well as the stakeholders` service.
