Despite biology is a scientific discipline focused on living organisms, there is no single, accepted by all biologists, definition of live. All such definitions proposed to date suggest criteria which are not fulfilled by some creatures which undoubtedly should be classified as living organisms. Therefore, how to answer the question: when a potential, previously unknown, form of existence met in the space should be called living organism, and when not? These dilemmas as discussed in this article, and my disputes led to the conclusion that classification of a given form of existence to living organisms is not essential if we recognize and understand its structure and mechanisms of functioning.

Education stops being an autotelic value, growing from natural cognitive needs, from natural cognitive needs, from a desire to understand oneself, as well as the surrounding word better; instead, it becomes a certificate giving definite rights. In search of specific requirements we lose the ability at things; we lose the ability of e.g. independent thinking, intellectual openness. The process of introducing parameters to education also leads to various consequences contradictory to the idea of increasing its quality; this is connected with the general conviction about the low intellectual level of people starting university education, and in consequence, receiving university diplomas.

In the period of open work markets in the European Union, and frequent migrations caused by search for employment it seems important to pay attention to experience gained due to the arrival of workers to the Upper Silesian work market as well as its results in the economic and social sphere. No state activity is able to defend the country from their consequences if so called "migration capacity" of the local community has expired. This "migratin capacity" of the local community defines the possibilities of the acceptance of assimilation of the newcomers without any social tensions as well as negative results in the eonomic and social sphere.

Due to the questions concerning the Silesian autonomy it seems important to estimate whether and to what extend Silesians constitute a national minority. National minorities differ in terms of culture, language, religion, as well as in the sphere of economy. Analyses of the records of the year 2002 allow to confirm the existence of such differences of the people declaring Silesian nationality. It can be seen on the job market, not only in comparison with the inhabitants of other parts of Poland, but also in the Silesian and the Opole voyevodship.

One of the basic features of citizens of each society is their interest of the problems of the community and the sense of responsibility for its future. At the core of such society there must exist the sense of community, not only as regards its needs, but also its values and culture; this sense must be based on the feeling of identity and responsibility for its fate. These premises seem to refer to the conception of Silesian autonomy. This conceptions, which became a fact in the 20th century, may become a formula according to which the social and economic development of the region can be identified. It should also help to ease the social problems connected with the economic crisis
