The presentation of particular concepts is based on literature study in English and Polish. Besides printed texts, the Internet resources were used to find relevant publica- tions. The research objective of the author is to present past and current solutions, as well as to indicate trends in reforming the pension system of Malta. To sum up, the author indicates, against the background of other states, a unique element of the Maltese pension system, namely a total lack of other pension systems for selected professional groups beyond the existing one.
