Przedmiotem artykułu są rozważania nad rolą śródmieść miast małych jako lokalnych węzłów struktury w policentrycznej przestrzeni regionu metropolitalnego. Przedstawione zostały też założenia teoretyczne podejścia badawczego do tej problematyki. Autor ponadto zreferował sytuację problemową dla śródmieścia podkrakowskiej Skawiny oraz zarysował propozycje projektów miejskich do finansowania ze środków Unii Europejskiej.

This article presents reflections on the role of centres of small towns as local structural nodes in the polycentric space of the metropolitan region. After explaining the theoretical assumptions of the research approach to this issue, the author described the problematic situation of the central part of Skawina near Cracow and outlined proposals concerning municipal projects to be financed by the European Union.
