The design and the implementation of the development strategy at public higher education institutions This article focuses on identification of the model approach to designing and implementing a development strategy in a higher education institution. The main reason for taking up the topic of formulating and implementing development strategies in higher education institutions is the growing demand for developing a model of designing and implementing strategies in entities of this type. Higher education institutions are specific organizations, therefore it is not possible to apply methods of the strategic analysis, which were designed mainly for creating strategies of enterprises, in the direct way. The aim of the article is to emphasize the role of the strategic thinking in the context of the management of a higher education institution. Moreover, it is in this article on the basis of the GUS data that the information on higher education institutions, academic staff and students was summarized. It is in the study that the method of document analysis was applied. The structure according to forms, types of higher education institutions and numbers of students were analysed. The evaluation of discussed changes of discussed parameters over time was carried out.

Projektowanie i implementacja strategii rozwoju w publicznych szkołach wyższych Artykuł koncentruje się na wskazaniu modelowego ujęcia procesu projektowania i wdrażania strategii rozwoju w uczelni wyższej. Zasadniczą przesłanką podjęcia tematu dotyczącego formułowania i implementacji strategii rozwoju w szkołach wyższych jest rosnące zapotrzebowanie ze strony uczelni na opracowanie modelu projektowania i wdrażania strategii w tego typu podmiotach. Uczelnia wyższa jest specyficzną organizacją, dlatego nie można w sposób bezpośredni zastosować metod analizy strategicznej, które zostały zaprojektowane głównie z myślą o budowaniu strategii przedsiębiorstw. Celem artykułu jest uwypuklenie roli myślenia strategicznego w kontekście zarządzania szkołą wyższą. Ponadto w artykule, na podstawie danych GUS, zestawiono informacje o uczelniach, kadrze akademickiej i studentach. W opracowaniu wykorzystano metodę analizy dokumentów. Analizie poddano strukturę uczelni według form, typu uczelni oraz liczby studentów. Dokonana została ocena zmian w czasie omawianych parametrów.

The enterprise is presently perceived as a source of social capital development. The development of social capital within an enterprise is visible through the increase of level of potential of its dimensions, e.g. increase of the level of trust in interpersonal contacts, striking a bigger number of close contacts with coworkers, or developing by the employees’ new capabilities and competencies. Modern enterprises are no longer competing only through traditional, i.e. hard means of production, presently they concentrate also on intangible resources, among which, social capital is becoming an important source of value creation. Modern management of economic organizations puts growing emphasis on the ability to join, balance and adjust tangible and intangible assets, including broadening and developing social capital, relevant from the point of view of effective cooperation and realization of different economic goals. The ability to enterprises to create and broaden intellectual resources, including social capital, as well as appropriate relational and social links, has decisive relevance for generating unique competencies, especially precious for the maintenance of lasting competitive advantage. It is in this article that the key issues of social capital in enterprises are presented with the use of a critical review of the literature on this subject. It is a new and simultaneously very topical issue that is reflected in numerous theoretical and empirical studies published in the world literature over the last years. The aim of this article is to present the concept of social capital by taking into account the influence of this capital on functioning of an enterprise.

Przedsiębiorstwo jest obecnie postrzegane jako źródło rozwoju kapitału społecznego. Rozwój kapitału społecznego w przedsiębiorstwie przejawia się zwiększeniem poziomu potencjału jego wymiarów, np. wzrostem poziomu zaufania w kontaktach międzyludzkich, nawiązaniem większej ilości bliskich kontaktów ze współpracownikami, czy też rozwinięciem przez pracowników nowych zdolności i kompetencji. Współczesne przedsiębiorstwa przestają konkurować wyłącznie za pomocą tradycyjnych, tzw. twardych czynników produkcji, koncentrując swoją uwagę także na zasobach niematerialnych, wśród których ważnym źródłem kreacji wartości staje się kapitał społeczny. We współczesnym zarządzaniu organizacjami gospodarczymi coraz większą wagę przypisuje się do umiejętności łączenia, równoważenia i dostosowania zasobów materialnych z niematerialnymi, w tym poszerzania i rozwoju kapitału społecznego, istotnego z punktu widzenia efektywnego współdziałania oraz realizacji różnych celów ekonomicznych. Zdolność przedsiębiorstw do tworzenia i poszerzania zasobów intelektualnych, w tym kapitału społecznego, a także odpowiednich relacji i powiązań społecznych, ma decydujące znaczenie dla tworzenia unikatowych kompetencji, szczególnie cennych dla utrzymania trwałej przewagi konkurencyjnej. W artykule, wykorzystując krytyczną analizę literatury przedmiotu, przedstawiono kluczowe zagadnienia kapitału społecznego przedsiębiorstwa. Jest to zagadnienie nowe i jednocześnie aktualne, czego wyrazem są liczne w literaturze światowej w ostatnich latach opracowania teoretyczne i empiryczne. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie koncepcji kapitału społecznego, uwzględniając wpływ tego kapitału na funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstwa.

The aim of this article is to identify the fundamental changes in the approach to programming and financing the development in the years 2014-2020, to present mechanisms and instruments of urban policy supported by EU funds, as well as practical aspects concerning territorial delimitation of urban functional areas. Considerations shall be based on studies of program source documents relating to functional areas.

The purpose of this article is to present the main issues associated with the creation of the supraregional strategy on the example of Western Poland. It is in the first part of the study that there were presented external conditions for the cooperation arising from the regulations of the most important European and Polish program documents of the time horizon up to 2020. The next part presents synthetic social and economic characterization of the macro-region of Western Poland. Subsequently, the concept and the objectives for the creation of the supraregional strategy were presented. It is at present that the Development Strategy for Western Poland and the Development Strategy for Southern Poland for the Śląskie and Małopolskie Voivodeships are being created. These initiatives are bottom-up actions of the self-government bodies of the voivodeships that allows for implementing the model of the multilevel governance and the strategic partnership of the domestic and regional system. These are the first cooperation projects amongst macro-regions in Poland initiated from the bottom up and voluntarily by self-government authorities, in which the voivodeships acknowledge that their development should take place through joint actions taken in the entire macro-region and creating the synergy effect. These are very innovative actions against the background of the experience at programming the regional development in Poland.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań, których celem było określenie wiedzy i stosunku konsumentów do aktywnych oraz inteligentnych opakowań w branży spożywczej. Stosowanie tego rodzaju opakowań związane jest ze wzrostem zainteresowania wśród konsumentów wysokiej jakości żywnością oraz ich nowymi preferencjami, które wpływają na zmiany w podejściu do pakowania żywności. Badaniami ankietowymi objęto 372 dorosłych mieszkańców województwa lubuskiego, dokonujących zakupów produktów żywnościowych. Analiza wyników badań ankietowych wykazały, że stan wiedzy na temat opakowań aktywnych i inteligentnych wśród Lubuszan jest niewystarczający. Decydujący dla rozwoju opakowań aktywnych i inteligentnych jest pozytywny stosunek respondentów do dalszego rozwoju tych rozwiązań.

The paper discusses the essence and the use of active and intelligent packaging in the food industry. It presents the results of a survey whose aim was to determine the knowledge and attitudes of consumers towards this type of packaging. The survey was conducted on a sample of 372 respondents – inhabitants of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. The use of active and intelligent packaging is related to the growing consumer interest in high quality food and new consumer preferences which influence the changes in the approach to food packaging. The analysis of the survey results showed that although there are new solutions for active and intelligent packaging appearing on the market, the state of knowledge on them among the inhabitants of the Lubuskie Region is insufficient.

Research background: This article concerns job satisfaction considered as an important impulse affecting employee behavior, with particular emphasis on the analysis of the significance of the factors that shape it. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this paper is to analyze and evaluate environmental factors shaping job satisfaction in a company from the TSL industry. This article addresses the problem of job satisfaction, considered as an important impulse influencing employee behavior, with particular emphasis on the analysis of the importance of the factors that underlie it. The search for an answer to the question of what determines the satisfaction of the employee and whether the employees are diversified based on their preferences in this area, relied on own research carried out among employees of a transportation company. Methods: First of all, for each factor indicated in the questionnaire a measure was calculated ? weighted average number of points. Using the criterion of decreasing value of this measure, a ranking of the importance of factors shaping job satisfaction in the surveyed company was prepared. Secondly, in order to supplement the analyses, the correlation between general job satisfaction and particular factors of job satisfaction was examined. The values of Spearman's rank correlation coefficients and Kendall's tau coefficients (?-Kendall) were calculated. The correlation analysis allowed us to examine the strength and direction of the influence of 20 factors on the overall job satisfaction. Findings & Value added: The conducted research shows that the two most important factors necessary to achieve job satisfaction are access to information necessary for proper performance of work and independence in performing the entrusted tasks. The correlation analysis confirmed that in the surveyed company job satisfaction is shaped primarily by factors that influence the employees' needs related to affiliation. On the other hand, the correlation coefficients between general satisfaction and factors shaping the need for respect and recognition and self-fulfillment turned out to be statistically insignificant. Building job satisfaction requires identification of its sources and recognition of the nature of the relationship between general satisfaction and its determinants. Without knowledge of these factors and the extent to which they are responsible for employee satisfaction and dissatisfaction, actions taken by employers may turn out to be misguided and become only a source of costs and not the expected benefits. In conditions of limited resources, employers should optimize activities aimed at building employee satisfaction and focus their efforts on those attributes of the working environment, the modification of which will have the most desirable consequences.

The development of knowledge-based economy has forced - especially in countries with advanced industries - profound changes in the operation of all scientific institutions, including higher education, which is one of the most important intellectual assets available to national economies. Triggering the entrepreneurial potential of academic staff and opening to business of university research laboratories has become a primary objective of scientific and technical policy in many countries, including Poland.This article aims to present the state of academic entrepreneurship in Poland, including the factors determining its development. The first section discusses the theoretical issues related to the essence of academic entrepreneurship and the results of selected research and analytical work on issues of development of academic entrepreneurship in Poland. In the further part of the article, in relation to the discussed research, presented are conclusions and recommendations on how to best support the development of academic entrepreneurship. The article uses the reports and expertise resulting from research conducted in this field.
