The author presents examples of early musical adaptations of „TheMagnificat”, which attest to the archetypical character of Polishmusical culture as well as to its great openness towards Europeanadvances in the field of composition techniques. These examples alsoreveal a theological approach to the musical matter, which is presentin particular works conceptualizing Virgin Mary and the Church’sfaith in a musical manner.
