The article discusses on extremely important problem faced by the contemporary bourgeois economy i.e. analysis of causes underlying its crisis and directions of its development in the last decade. It begins with description of changes occurring in the cotemporary world and mainly, however, in the contemporary capitalist economy, their causes, and reflection in the bourgeois economy.

The author represents a view that in the contemporary capitalist economy there is a controversy regarding the way in which the eoonomy should be functioning and the role which the state performs and should perform in this process . The prevailing doctrlnesln the contemporary Western econonomy have been so far Keynesism and neo-Keynesism, which subscribe to a view that self - regulation mechanisms tend to fall and that their operatio leads to cyclical fluctuations , unemployment and disequilibrium i n payments balances. The seventies brought a revival of the neo - liberal concepts , lncluding neo-conservative ones , which find their fullest expression i n M. Friedman’s neo-monetarism. This trend tends to rank foremost with reduction of any active undertakings of the government being a leading idea in th e economic theory and practice. These concepts have gained wide popularity ln the United States and Great Britain The main dlff«renos In approaohes to problems connected with application of theoretical recommendatlona in the economic policy consists in shlfting the weight of analysis from demand problems to the problems of supply.
