The text analyses one of the most significant pieces not only in Mykola Khvyl'ovyj works but also in the history of Ukrainian literature and culture. Referring to the body politechnology discourse of Michel Foucalt (from 'Discipline and Punish') and Albert Camus concept of rebellion, the authoress endeavours to prove that Mykola Khvyl'ovyj 'Sanatorijna zona' (The Sanatorium Zone) is not less powerful in the antiutopian detotalitarianism of the individual than Vladimir Nabokov's 'Invitaion to a Beheading'.

The proposed text involves a generational characterization of the events taking place in Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv (2013/2014). The author treats the Revolution of Dignity as an important transgressive contribution initiating the post-colonial process of overcoming post-Soviet trauma that has been haunting Ukrainians since their gaining independence in 1991. The generational syndrome becomes fundamental, because generational change is the most effective chance of overcoming the legacy of totalitarian socialism. Thus, Euromaidan may be perceived as a cross-border “nation-building” place of contemporary Ukraine (understood as a post-colonial hybrid).

The proposed text involves an overview of the Ukrainian literature written in Russian in the period of political transition after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The author believes that the inclusion of this type of literature in the overall literary circulation can constitute asignificant step in the post-colonial process of self-upgrading of Ukrainian literature. Moreover, the author claims that the hybrid variety of Ukrainian literature should be seen not as aweakness, but asignificant advantage.
