Salman Rushdie's novel 'Shalimar the Clown' is an intermix of politics and culture which starts at the Indian side of Kashmir and ends in Los Angeles. Rushdie has a woven an amazing tale of love and human relations in the Persian style of storytelling. The story moves with many subplots and the message which Rushdie wants to convey to his readers is how unfortunately the simple Kashmiri people have become a victim of international terrorism and how they have lost their innocence in big power rivalry. He is sad to see his ancestors' place, the Kashmir valley, as a constant sour for the people and leadership both in India and Pakistan.
