The 21st century managers must care about their technical, functional and socio-cultural skills in order to stand up to a new paradigm increasing their responsibility. Enterprises have to accept chaos as a basic process and share knowledge which has become the key institution's competency. Companies should change the model from feudal relationships with their partners to 'strategie partnership'. The development of virtual enterprises has a particular significance. Likewise, the leaning of organisation according to knowledge and other resources' management requirements plays an important role.

The article presents characteristics of selected university spin-off firms in the context of their creation of competitive advantage in the global market, mainly based on advanced new technologies. University spin-offs are the result of academic entrepreneurship and are often established by scientists and PhD students.

The authors present a new form of business organization such as virtual enterprises which are based on key competences centre, where other organizational units - service suppliers can realize the real enterprise operations. In this type of organization trust is essential for the relations between key competences owner and service suppliers. They show how to manage the clients' trust to virtual organization as well as trust relationship between their participants.

The article is an attempt to examine corruption in an organization. Its sources, threats, and ways to deal with it in contemporary organizations are discussed. In addition, an integrated method to approach corruption, namely strategic risk management of corruption is introduced.

Virtual organisation (VO) is an answer to highly turbulent and competitive environment and growing customers' needs. The theory of virtual organisation is still evolving and being systematized, similarly to the practice. Determination of conditions and circumstances fostering success of VO is a priority issue. The outcome of the authors' research shows that trust management plays a key role in VO management. The article presents the results of research on key success factors among virtual organizations based on cases from Swedish and American cultures.

The authors present the ways of building trust in a context of SME, assuming that trust will play such an important role as knowledge does today.
