The thesis concentrate on presentation of Rev. Jerzy Jan Zawadzki’s live and activity from the perspective of the Security Service – a service which in Polish People’s Republic fought with the Catholic Church, in particular with clergy. The Public Service started invigilation of Rev. Zawadzki in 1969, when he went to seminary and they finished it in 1986, when an operation Harcerzyk was finished. In light of information which they collected, they compiled a profile of Rev. Zawadzki, which showed that he was responsible of clericalization of youngs people, that he was a cheap politician on the pulpit and an oppositionist.
This article is a contribution to understanding the past and present of the Sejny land and the Church center in Berzniki. Over the centuries, there have been many changes in Berzniki regarding various matters of religious, social and economic life, etc.. Today, that center is struggling with numerous problems related to the economic and social difficulties, high unemployment, depopulation of villages and towns – which are assigned to the parish, the migration of young people to larger cities and towns, etc. However, it has valuable monuments, first of all the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Additionally, there is also a historic cemetery. These are treasures that the local community looks after and develops with faith and tradition, enriching to the best of their abilities.
The article discusses the administrative changes concerning parish priests in the diocese of Ełk in the years 1992–2017, ie in the first 25 years of its functioning. The information gathered included nearly half a thousand names of priests and 150 parishes. The proposed changes only included parishes led by diocesan priests.
The article presents the literary achievements of two Ełk bishops – Edward Edmund Samsel and Wojciech Ziemba. They belong to a group of people having education in the field of biblical theology. The bibliography concerns the years 1992-2017.
In the article the author presents the history of the Diocese of Elk in the years 1992-2017. It discusses the most important issues related to this diocese, for example: organization and structure, clergy and demography, first synod of the diocese, architecture and art, church institutions, seminary, caritas, media and religious and pastoral life. Although the presented material does not ex-haust the whole of the issue, it often signals only the selected elements, it cer-tainly brings the history of the aforementioned diocese to a close.

In the period 1992-2017, dozens of priests with at least a doctoral degree were involved in the scientific work in the entire Ełk clergy. Most of the priests graduating from specialist studies obtained the title of doctor of theology. They represent the following specializations: biblical theology (7 priests), pastoral theology (4), liturgy (3), dogmatic theology (3), catechetics (2), patrology (2). Other areas include canon law (7), history (4), and philosophy (2). There were also three academic periodicals created by Ełk priests, i.e. “Studia Ełckie”, “Civitas et Lex” and “Studia Gilsoniana”. Through their activity, these priests managed to create solid scientific journals, recognizable today not only in Poland, but also abroad.

In summary, it should be stated that in the period 1992-2017, dozens of priests with at least a doctoral degree were engaged in scientific and writing work in the entire of Ełk clergy. The work of the Ełk priests concerned mainly issues related to the history of the Church, canon law, philosophy, theology, Catholic social science and patrology. However, it is significant that priests who work on a daily basis in pastoral work can also be proud of the significant achievements in these areas, treating this activity as the implementation of their own research passion and fondness.

This article presents the literary achievements of doctor priests from the Ełk diocese specializing in biblical theology. It collected publications that were published within twenty-five years from the year the diocese was founded. Fr. Zdzisław Mazur, currently the pastor of the parish St. Bruno in Giżycko. Although he is a biblical theologian by profession, he wrote a significant part of all his works, popularizing the history of the Church, publishing them mainly in the diocesan journal Martyria.
The article explores the biography of Teofilia Jacuńska and her work for the common good in the four parishes in the Suwalszczyzna region. Born in the US, well-educated and multitalented, Jacuńska abandons a promising career in order to come back to Poland and to focus solely on social work for the good of people and the Church. The article discloses facts previously unknown to the public but of vital importance to our national awareness. These stories enrich our knowledge of the past generation and review unfair judgment about people devoted to Church.
The article focuses on the presentation of the beginning, editor-in-chiefs, publishers, publishing formulas and graphic layout and typographic layout of “Gazeta Nidzicka” in 1990−2001, ie during the period of the publication of the magazine. The main source material on which the article was based were the subsequent issues of the bi-weekly “Gazeta Nidzicka”. The article was based on a master’s thesis of Karolina Turowska, written at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication under the direction of Fr. prof. dr hab. Wojciech Guzewicz and is its further development and complement.
