The article provides an overall overview of competitiveness and competitive advantage concepts found in the literature. Then the Author attempts to present competitiveness as an aggregate composed of such components as competitive potential, competitive position competition strategy, or competition instruments. This provides a point of departure for a proposed cause-effect chain of enterprise competitiveness, i.e. for specifying cause-effect relationships which determine the ability to compete on the market. The final section of the article is devoted to presentation of measuring methods of competitiveness (competitive position).

The article proposes a model of e-business solutions implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises. The presented scheme of e-business solutions implementation for a small firm covers the stages of preparation for implementation, implementation itself, as well as operation of internet technologies. The final part of the article is devoted to description of conditions for e-business solutions diffusion. Among the variables which determine dissemination of e-business we should mention organisational, sociological, technical and legal factors. The article also addresses the present situation in Poland in the context of the proposed e-business diffusion model.

Zmienność otoczenia, jak również kreowanie zmian w samym przedsiębiorstwie pociąga za sobą konieczność bezustannego zarządzania zmianami. W artykule podjęto problem badawczy zarządzania zmianami w jednoosobowym przedsiębiorstwie działającym w przestrzeni wirtualnej, a więc środowisku o wysokiej i nieprzewidywalnej dynamice zmian. Celem artykułu jest jakościowa analiza czynników utrudniających i ułatwiających wdrażanie zmian przez przedsiębiorstwo jednoosobowe działające w przestrzeni wirtualnej. Zastosowano dwie metody badawcze: krytyczną analizę dokumentacji oraz metodę wywiadu skategoryzowanego. Wyniki badań wskazują, że prowadzenie biznesu internetowego niesie wyzwania ze względu na percepcję i wdrażanie zmian. Z drugiej jednak strony automatyzacja działalności w oparciu o stosowane oprogramowanie, jak również posiłkowanie się usługami zewnętrznymi pozwala na sprawne wdrażanie zmian nawet w przedsiębiorstwach jednoosobowych.

Since its inception, the sector of companies selling on the Internet in Poland has been undergoing a process of continuous growth. Even the crisis of 2008 - 2009 did not negatively affect the development of e-commerce in Poland. However, due to the stage of development of the sector, as well as the current macroeconomic conditions, the question of maintaining the development trend under the conditions of economic slowdown arises. The aim of the article is to identify and assess factors that may support its further development (or at least the maintenance of its position) at the level of an online shop operating in Poland under the conditions of the economic downturn. The results of the analysis indicate that standard actions taken in favorable market conditions must be modified during a slowdown. Those activities that allow reducing costs and/or reaching a wider audience with an offer (e.g. performance marketing) need to be strengthened.

Social networking sites, in addition to the standard features of communication between members of the community, are also another channel to build brand image and shaping consumer buying behavior. SNSs allow the establishment of the so-called company profiles, enabling a continuous and interactive dialogue with customers or potential customers. This paper presents an analysis and assessment of the effects of becoming a fan of the brand by the person of generation Y in the light of empirical research.

Tunisia constitutes one of basic directions of tourist trips in Poland. However terrorist attack on the museum in Bardo, widely related in mass media, changed the image of Tunisia as the safe holiday destination. The assassination caused a number of consequences for the Polish tourism, for tour operators sending tourists to Tunisia, and finally for visitors (or intended to visit Tunisia). One of the key decisions of clients who bought stay in Tunisia, was a decision: to go or not to go there. In turn for people who just spent holiday in Tunisia, there’ another dilemma – to come back now or wait until the end of their stay. Similar decisions arose before the touroperators. From a sociological point of view, the social sentiment of opinions on outbound tourism to Tunisia reflect company profiles on Facebook (fanpage) of the principal tourist agencies sending customers to the country concerned. The fanpages were in fact sometimes very emotional discourse on line touroperator–client. The aim of the paper is to examine and evaluate the sentiment of statements on fanpages of main tour operators focusing around the question: to go or not to go there (tourist point of view); to continue departures or to cease them (point of view of touroperators). Because of the direct, immediate and honest (sometimes painfully) discussions conducted at company profiles on Facebook, you can glimpse into the motivations of choice for consumers on the one hand, and on the other take a look at and consider the arguments of travel operators.

Tunezja stanowiła do 2015 roku jeden z głównych kierunków wyjazdów turystycznych Polaków. Jednak zamach terrorystyczny na muzeum w Bardo, szeroko relacjonowany w mass mediach, zmienił wizerunek Tunezji jako bezpiecznego miejsca wypoczynku. Jedną z kluczowych decyzji klientów biur podróży, którzy wykupili pobyt w omawianym kraju, była decyzja: jechać do zarezerwowanego wcześniej miejsca czy zmienić kraj planowanego wypoczynku. Przed podobnym dylematem stanęli organizatorzy turystyki: zawiesić ofertę wypoczynku w omawianym kraju czy uznać, że zamach nie stanie się poważnym czynnikiem wyborów konsumenckich. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie i ocena sentymentu wypowiedzi na profilach firmowych (fanpage’ach) biur podróży wysyłających turystów do Tunezji, ogniskująca się wokół kwestii: jechać – nie jechać. Ze względu na bezpośrednią, natychmiastową i szczerą dyskusję prowadzoną między internautami oraz między internautami a biurem podróży, można przyjrzeć się rzeczywistym przesłankom wyborów dokonywanych w ramach procesu nabywczego w sytuacji kryzysowej.

The paper deals with the issue of enterprise elasticity. In economic theory, elasticity is the ability of an organization to identify and take advantage of available opportunities to minimize or reduce market threats. The elasticity of an organization is a desirable feature in a turbulent environment. The elasticity of a business enables it to optimally adapt itself to market conditions. This adaptation involves an optimal time frame and factors influencing the company’s capabilities. An enterprise’s elasticity can be looked at as a configuration of partial elasticities. The authors examine the relationship between the elasticity of an organization as a whole and the elasticity of its individual resources. The paper describes the results of research into selected aspects of elasticity in production, services, deliveries, sales, human and financial resources management, and organizational structures. To attain their goal, the authors carried out empirical studies among 34 businesses. The collected data allowed them to formulate conclusions about the decomposition of enterprise elasticity. As part of the study, the authors identified seven partial elasticities and ranked them on the basis of a statistical analysis.
