Thinking of the human role in the organization was changing during the last century. That is why we can also see the evolution of the HRM function. One of the reason of this evolution is the transformation of managerial roles. The purpose of this article is to present HRM manager in the context of business partner model.

The paper presents the main factors influencing the level of employee sickness absence and attempts to identify the possibility of using absence management models to diagnose dysfunction and pathology in human resource management in the organizations. Attention is paid to the consequences of mistakes made by employers, focused on the application of penalties for excessive absenteeism, such as abuse of sick leave or presenteeism.

Without deep cultural change, it is going to be extremely hard to shape a new image of management science, whose dark aspects are the personality and the attitude of the scientist. In this panoptic approach, the scientist brings a wax figure, an artificial creation to mind, both in scientific and educational activities. Change is possible and necessary, determined by conscious and intentional elimination of cultural influence which shaped the image of the science in past times: until 1989 and after the transformation. Like all syndromes, these problems are hard and require evolutionary changes. On one hand, without the repression, on the other hand without the particular tolerance and privileges (resulting from formal authority) for the people shaping those times. The hope lies in the young generation of scientists, as long as they don’t give in to the influence of figures.

Performance appraisal meeting is a key element of the appraisal process. It can however arouse negative feelings in some employees. Such emotions can diminish employee’s satisfaction from the whole appraisal process and their motivation for improvement. The article describes the role of appraisal meetings and various factors determining subject’s attitude, mainly the openness of communication and the degree of employee’s participation. According to most interviewees, the way of communicating was open but in a lot of cases the possibility for an active exchange seemed restricted.

This article presents the question of dysfunction within the managerial promotions. Based on literature studies and the research problem areas in the field of promotion policy were identified. Of particular note are the criteria for promotion, and integration of the promotion policy with of personnel policy and company’s strategy. These areas are a source of potential problems with the maintenance of valuable human resources in the company.

Pathology in the process of governance in local government is a fact. It bases on the results of representative surveys of public Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK) and on opinions some officials in this regard. This paper presents a diagnosis, examples of pathological activities and highlights the role of social unmasking activity „in good faith”. Some proposal of changes were formulated which would have a chance to change the status quo.

The paper presents the results of research conducted by literature studies. The aim of the research is the critical analysis of the work conditions. The research entity is Google company. This organization was chosen deliberately – the criterion of selection was the fact that Google is one of the most well-known employers in the world, with the most prestigious awards for employers. The discussion begins with the presentation of the tangible and intangible elements of the work environment and the characteristics of the research entity. The next section of the article analyzes the selected components of work conditions at Google. The last part of the paper focuses on the identification of the weaknesses of work conditions at Google.

The paper presents the results of research (conducted with using content analysis), which aim was to determine which areas of students` competence require further improvement. The analysis included 444 students` written statement. The results of research preceded by a brief overview of views on the roles and management skills and the research in the area of competency gaps.

W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wyniki badań własnych prowadzonych metodą analizy treści, których celem było sprawdzenie, w jakich obszarach kompetencyjnych studenci kierunku Zarządzanie Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego zauważają u siebie luki wymagające dalszego doskonalenia. Analizą objęto 444 pisemnych wypowiedzi studentów. Rezultaty badawcze poprzedzono krótkim przeglądem poglądów na temat ról i umiejętności kierowniczych oraz badań w obszarze luk kompetencyjnych.
