The article presents the possibility of using the great Latin American myths in a more engaged value-oriented teaching. Modern technological societies are impoverished as far as emotional life is concerned. Thanks to emotional education, which is about awakening emotions in the learners, we can make students more sensitive and invite them to take part in a discussion about values. The great personae of Latin America such as Simon Bolivar, Eva Peron or Che Guevara can be the subject of the didactic project.

¿El spanglish – vehículo de la identidad transitoria?

The presence of English interjections in the works of writers of Hispanic origin is a proof that spanglish is also becoming the language of literature. Analysis of the stories of writers collected in the anthology “Se habla español. Las voces latinas en USA” has helped to define the “signs of the times” typical of a society as complex as American society, with people of Latino descent. The use of single words, phrases, and thinking in both languages is proof that the users of these languages are present in both cultures. The analysis of the presented stories indicates that their identity is a “temporary” identity, which is not identified with any culture eventually.

Obecność wtrętów z języka angielskiego w twórczości pisarzy pochodzenia latynoskiego jest dowodem, iż spanglish staje się również językiem literatury. Analiza opowiadań pisarzy zebranych w antologii Se habla español. Las voces latinas en USA posłużyła określeniu „znaków czasu” charakterystycznych dla społeczeństwa tak złożonego, jakim jest społeczeństwo amerykańskie, z poważnym odsetkiem ludności pochodzenia latynoskiego. Posługiwanie się pojedynczymi słowami, wyrażeniami oraz myślenie w obu językach, jest dowodem na to, że użytkownicy tych języków są obecni w obu kulturach. Analiza użytkowników obu języków w przedstawionych opowiadaniach wskazuje na to, że ich tożsamość jest w stadium „przejściowym” i nie identyfikuje się z żadną kultur ostatecznie.

La presencia de interferencias de la lengua inglesa en la obra de los escitores del origen latino es una muestra de que el spanglisgh se hace el idioma literario. El análisis de los cuentos de los escritores, recogidos en la antología Se habla español. Las voces latinas en USA ha permitido definir “los signos del tiempo”, característicos para la sociedad tan mixta como lo es la sociedad americana con la población de origen hispánico. El uso de las palabras, expresiones en inglés o el hecho de pensar en ambas lenguas demuestra que los ususarios de dichos idiomas están presentes en ambas culturas. Además, las características de los usuarios del spanglish indican que su identidad se encuentra en el estado “transitorio”, porque ellos no se identifican por completo con nignua de las dos culturas.
