W artykule przedstawiono główne założenia projektu grantowego WORK for JOB – przez praktykę do pracy, dotyczącego tranzycji studentów z systemu edukacji na rynek pracy. Innowacyjność projektu zakładała implementację w programowo przewidziany cykl kształcenia modelu płatnych staży dla adeptów stacjonarnych studiów socjologicznych. Propozycja modelu wspierającego proces przechodzenia młodzieży akademickiej z systemu edukacji w obszar rynku pracy została wypracowana w partnerstwie między Instytutem Socjologii Uniwersytetu Śląskiego a Powiatowym Urzędem Pracy w Tychach.

The goal of the paper is to show the problem of workers' pauperisation on contemporary labour market in Poland while comparing selected aspects of this phenomenon with the situation on the European Union labour market. Results of European research (EU-SILC survey) concerning the living conditions of the population were used for this purpose It appears that the highest rates of risk of poverty among working population aged 18-64 are reported in Romania, Greece and Spain. On the other hand, this phenomenon is observed in the least degree in the Czech Republic, Finland and Belgium. In Poland, the share of in-work population at risk of poverty in 2014 was on the level of 10.7%, and was slightly higher than EU-mean that reached 9.6%. Results of empirical data generally show similar determinants that affect higher probability of occurrence of the problem both on national, as well as on the European Union labour market, including low level of worker's education, provision of work based on flexible contracts, short job seniority and low labour intensity in household.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the work-related demands grew dramatically for school principals, and many experienced overwork, pressure, and stress. An adopted form of a coping reaction by workers who experience large workloads and strong demands for self-organisation has been conceptualised as self-endangering work behaviour (SEWB). This study focuses on three SEWB subscales: work extensification, work intensification, and the reduction in the quality of work among Polish school principals during COVID-19. The results come from an online survey conducted between June and December 2021. The study revealed that SEWBs were associated with respondents’ wellbeing, mental and physical exhaustion, and psychosomatic complaints. The presented study contributes to the limited literature on Polish school principals’ SEWB during the pandemic. Our findings could be a baseline for policymakers for the prevention of overwork and burnout in Polish school principals.
