Feminist Critique of Scientific Knowledge and Cognition

Taking the externalist reconstructions of science and the contextual picture of scientific cognition as the starting point, and assuming that it is a proposal that is currently best justified, the authoress poses the question: Whether and how has science (content) and scientific cognition (process) changed due to the influence of feminist groups and authors critiques over the last 25 years? The sex/gender category seems to be the most lasting achievement of the feminist critique. Despite this, however, its presence in natural sciences is not widespread, as is evidenced by a low number of women scientists. It is worth noting, however, that in the life sciences, theoretical and applied, and in particular in those that concern themselves with human beings, relatively low number of women engaged in professional work has both subjective and objective underpinnings. The problem is exacerbated by controversies that take place within feminism between the social constructivist and the sociobiological standpoints.
