The article presents so-called “Catechism Song” („Pieśń katechizmowa”), which comes from the song-book published in 1886. In the XIX-th century in the Church of Poland songs like this one were very popular. They were sung before or during homilies. Songs of catechism were very important in the Polish culture, especially in the country and in the folk tradition. They taught about God, faith, the Decalogue and the morality.

The article by Robert Kaczorowski depicts five so-called “Polish masses” (“Msze polskie”), which comes from the song-book published in 1871. In the 19th century in the Church of Poland this songs were very popular. They were sung instead of Latin songs and the Gregorian chant, which were difficult to understand and learn.

In our times Joseph Ratzinger is the greatest theologian among cardinals and the most prominent cardinal among theologians. As a professor of theology, but not only, he wrote many books, e.g. “A New Song for the Lord: Faith in Christ and Liturgy Today”, where he shows relations between liturgy and music of the church. The article by Robert Kaczorowski tells about Ratzinger’s biblical context of art and music. The author presents the analysis of Ps 47,8 and the evolution of Hebrew’s word maskîl to Greek’s word psalate. Kaczorowski adds that the biblical theory of art and music is still current.

L’articolo presenta i cinque catechismi più diffusi, che nel secolo XIX formarono il culto mariano nella Varmia. Erano usati sia dai predicatori, sia dagli studenti durante l’insegnamento della religione. La loro funzione principale era l’esame delle verità fondamentali riguardanti la Madre di Dio. La maggioranza di loro lo faceva nel contesto del trattato sul saluto dell’angelo. La formula usata domanda – risposta senza dubbio facilitava la comprensione e l’assimilazione dei contenuti e delle verità sulla Madre di Dio.
