The Włodawa estates were located in the area of the historical Podlasie region, at the meeting of former lands of the Kingdom of Poland, Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Ruthenian Duchies. They were situated on the hilly banks of the Bug river valley. In 1818 they became the property of Stanisław Kostka Zamoyski, the founder of the Włodawa line of the Zamoyski Entail, who chose Różanka as his seat. After the Różanka palace was burned down by Russian troops in 1915, Konstanty Zamoyski ordered an eclectic palace and park complex to be built in Adampol. The eclectic palace complex designed by Jan Koszczyc Witkiewicz combines different architectural styles, while the historical elements such as coats of arms, marble fi replaces, sculptures or the furnishings of the chapel (stained glass windows) transferred from the destroyed palace at Różanka, form a kind of Lapidarium and remind us of the palace which is no more. The article discusses the history of the palace and park complexes in Różanka and Adampol, the transformations that the two complexes underwent, and their present condition.
