Niestandardowa koncepcja metafilozofii a ethos filozofii

The paper presents a nonstandard idea of metaphilosophy, distinguishes it from the standard idea, and argues why this idea deserves to be applied. It is assumed that standard metaphilosophy can be interpreted as philosophy of philosophy, similarly to philosophy of science or of art, thus as a rather specialized branch of philosophy. Nonstandard metaphilosophy is characterized as a way of developing philosophy, differing from the traditional ways by its goal: traditionally developed philosophy tries to construct an image of Whole; philosophy developed in nonstandard-metaphilosophical way tries to construct a ‘space’ of all possible/conceivable images of the Whole. Ii is argued that this way of developing philosophy might strengthen both the community of philosophers, and improve its positive influence on the development of global community.

Artykuł prezentuje niestandardową koncepcję metafilozofii, odróżnia ją od koncepcji standardowej oraz uzasadnia, dlaczego koncepcja niestandardowa zasługuje na rozwijanie i stosowanie. Zakłada się, że metafilozofia standardowa może być rozumiana jako filozofia filozofii, analogicznie do filozofii nauki lub filozofii sztuki, a zatem jako raczej wyspecjalizowana subdyscyplina filozofii. Metafilozofia niestandardowa jest charakteryzowana jako pewna szczególna metoda rozwijania filozofii, metoda różniąca się od metod tradycyjnych swym celem: filozofia rozwijana w sposób tradycyjny próbuje zbudować pewien określony model Całości, natomiast filozofia rozwijana zgodnie z założeniami metafilozofii niestandardowej zmierza do konstrukcji „przestrzeni” (wszystkich) możliwych obrazów Całości. W artykule przedstawiona została próba uzasadnienia tezy (należącej do metafilozofii standardowej), zgodnie z którą stosowanie metod niestandardowej metafilozofii może przyczynić się zarówno do wewnętrznego rozwoju wspólnoty filozofów, jak i do wzmocnienia pozytywnego wpływu wywieranego przez nią na globalną wspólnotę ludzką.

The paper presents an attempt to make clear the meaning of the concept of the beauty of mathematics. To this purpose several elements of mathematics have been distinguished (formulae, mathematical concepts and objects, proofs, and the development of mathematics) and the aesthetic specificity of each of them has been discussed. Some attention is given also to the role mathematics plays in the description of art as the domain of culture in which the importance of beauty is most evident. The need to develop the aesthetics of mathematics as part of both philosophy of mathematics and aesthetics most broadly conceived has been indicated.

W artykule podjęto próbę sprecyzowania sensu, w jakim można mówić o pięknie matematyki. Wyodrębniono w tym celu kilka jej elementów (wzory, matematyczne pojęcia i obiekty, dowody i rozwój matematyki) i przedyskutowano estetyczną specyfikę każdego z nich. Nieco miejsca poświęcono też roli matematyki w opisie sztuki – dziedziny kultury, w której znaczenie piękna jest najbardziej oczywiste. Wskazano również potrzebę rozwijania estetyki matematyki − zarówno jako działu filozofii matematyki, jak i jako części najszerzej rozumianej estetyki.
