Wprowadzenie do drugiej części numeru, poświęconej spuściznie naukowej Mariana Maciejewksiego.
PL
In Norwid's works continuation is seen of the Romantic predilection for details, for concrete facts, but the poet moves them from the space of the outer world to the dimension of man's inner reality. The first generation Romantics approach history, for example, through a detail of the landscape. For Norwid history is a context for revealing the inner man (Kleopatra i Cezar). It also happens that history, like in Promethidion, appears in its entanglement in relations with art, beauty and work. In such a configuration the key character of conscience is revealed as a category in a special way connected with the flow of time, with history.

The most valuable part of Polish Romanticism was in fact lirycal. Even when we speak about large artistic forms we can use this genological category. Liryc and its actualizations in poetry of Romanticism period has been particulary deeply and extensive described by researchers from socalled Lublin school of studies in Romanticism: C. Zgorzelski, M. Maciejewski, I. Opacki, D. Zamącińska.

Aleksander Wat and romanticism (once more)   In the sketch, the problem taken is the relation of Aleksander Wat to the Polish romanticism, both in terms of how to troubleshoot inherently more formal as well as final transfer of the works. Analysis of individual poems (including The Persian Parable, Across the Square) lead to the conclusion of a distinct connection between Wat and the Lausanne lyricism of Adam Mickiewicz.

The sketch deals with the problems of the poetic letter. During the exemplification of the issue, poems by Julian Przyboś, Cyprian Norwid and Ignacy Krasicki are used. It turns out that important issues can be seen from the perspective of selected, but also deep anthropological problems, arising from the interpretative process. The tools for understanding them are provided by thinkers of post-Husserlian phenomenology, in this case Dietrich von Hildebrand.

The problem of “seeing” in the writings of John Paul II has not yet been examined separately. This motif was discerned in the Triptych due to the distinctiveness of its presence. The contexts of, for example, the Pope’s Letter to Artists and the Areopagus sermon were useful. The problem of “seeing” (being, as presented in the Triptych, the first attribute of the Creator) is linked to the question of John Paul II’s understanding of art, as well as his theology of the body. It is at the very centre of the theological and philosophical (aesthetic) thoughts of this Pope and Thinker.

Stoi w centrum myśli teologicznej, filozoficznej (estetycznej) Papieża i Myśliciela.

Czesław Zgorzelski is known predominantly as a historian of literature. But Zgorzelski was also a distinguished theoretician of the lyric poetry. His most renowned disciple, Marian Maciejewski, wrote about it in his commentaries to the works of Zgorzelski. Zgorzelski’s works on the lyric poetry contain, very important observations on the nature of the lyric poetry, and the model, gradual changes within this genre. Zgorzelski’s findings in this area are fundamental and can be applied into other non-Romantic areas of reaserch.

The article addresses selected issues about Polish poetry after 1989. The author distinguishes between the poetry of ‘a literary movement’ and the poetry fulfilling the criteria of a veritable work of art. She critically com - ments on the selected works by well-known authors who function as part of an unspoken canon; she portrays the poetry of Paweł Marcinkiewicz as one of the most attractive proposals coming from the younger generation, whereas from among the classics she picks texts by Czesław Miłosz and Janusz St. Pasierb.

Between realism of observation and vision. Creative process and the value of its outcome   A case study of Zygumnt Krasiński’s The Un-Divine Comedy. The article touches upon the characteristics of Zygmunt Krasiński’s creative process. The author analyses this issue in reference to the wellestablished in the history of literature argument of predominantly intellectual, historiosophical and visionary background to Krasiński’s writing. Using the example of the first part of The Un-Divine Comedy, she brings forward an argument on the weight and relevance of realistic observation of reality in the writings of this romantic author.

Norwid’s Italy as a Whole. Problems in Theological AestheticsThe article analyzes several of Norwid’s most celebrated poems (w weronie, Fortepian Szopena, among others) and points to a significant proximity of the poet’s notion of art and Hans Urs von Balthasar’s theological-aesthetic thought. The common space of reflection of these two thinkers denotes an understanding of art as a means and medium for the expression of the biblical Revelation. The article further explores such perception of the ex- pression of theological truths (in von Balthasar’s terminology: theological aesthetics), especially as it becomes prominent in Norwid’s work engaging in the ‘Italian’ themes.

Late Masterpieces of Miłosz

In the last lyric Czesław Miłosz raises the themes somehow similar to those which appear in Mickiewicz’s Lozanne lyric: their characteristic feature is also the similarity between the attitudes and formalsolutions. The aesthetic category of the “Lozanne issue” to a great extent builds an extremely brave shape of Miłosz’s late lyric.

The romantic opposition Mickiewicz−Słowacki is seen here in the perspective of aesthetics as it is understood by Roman Ingarden; the reception of the biography of the authors is transferred to the area of creativity. The stereotype of the conflict between Mickiewicz and Słowacki has been perpetuated in the history of the reception of Polish Romanticism. However, if you see this era as characterised by the coexistence of great creative personalities, the “oppositionality” of the poets will change its character. Especially the “last” poetry of Mickiewicz and Słowacki, while raising very similar issues, is realised in extremely different forms of imagination. The “oppositionality” between the poets is revealed as a complementarity that significantly defines Polish Romanticism.
