Wzrost skali migracji wiąże się z wieloma wyzwaniami. Jednym z nich jest kwestia leczenia osób pochodzących z innych krajów i regionów świata. Istotnym kierunkiem działań w tym zakresie powinno być zatem rozpoznanie kulturowych barier w leczeniu zagranicznych pacjentów. Przedstawiona w artykule analiza prezentuje kilka aspektów tego zagadnienia — wpływ kultury na występowanie i przebieg określonych chorób oraz znaczenie kultury w diagnostyce i terapii.

An increase of international migration causes a lot of new challenges. One of them is the question of treatment of patients from other countries and regions. Important direction of activity in this area should be the recognizing of cultural barriers in treatment of foreign patients. The analysis included in this article shows some aspects of this question — influence of culture on the occurrence and the course of certain diseases as well as the significance of culture in diagnostis and therapy.

This paper is an analysis of research projects in the field of migration, carried out at the Institute of Social Policy between the mid-1990s and 2017. The analysis covers project type and scope, research perspective, selection and approach to the topic, and applied research tools. Our goal was to capture distinctive trends in the research work at the Institute, which may contribute to defining specifics of migration research from the perspective of social policy.

Tekst zawiera analizę migracyjnych projektów badawczych realizowanych przez Instytut Polityki Społecznej od połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych do roku 2017. W analizie tej uwzględniono typ i zakres projektu, przyjętą perspektywę, wybór i ujęcie tematu oraz zastosowane narzędzia badawcze. Celem analizy była próba uchwycenia charakterystycznych tendencji, co może być przyczynkiem do określenia specyfiki badań migracyjnych prowadzonych z perspektywy polityki społecznej.
