Autorka podejmuje problematykę nadużywania alkoholu przez seniorów zamieszkujących domy pomocy społecznej. W związku z głównym celem tekstu, tj. przybliżeniem problematyki nadużywania alkoholu w DPS w kontekście aspektów społeczno-prawnych oraz wyzwań dla edukacji, w pierwszej kolejności, przez odwołanie do ujęć teoretycznych oraz danych statystycznych omówiono tematykę alkoholizmu wśród osób w podeszłym wieku. Poruszono także obszar uregulowań prawnych w zakresie funkcjonowania DPS przeznaczonych dla osób uzależnionych od alkoholu. Analiza regulacji ustawowych uzupełniona została przez przywołanie aktualnych danych dotyczących liczby placówek przeznaczonych dla osób uzależnionych od alkoholu funkcjonujących na terenie całej Polski. By podejmowana tematyka została omówiona w jak najszerszym kontekście, a sformułowanie rekomendacji działań naprawczych i wyzwań dla edukacji było możliwe, przytoczono także wybrane badania empiryczne wskazujące na aktualność i powszechność występowania problemu nadużywania alkoholu przez osoby w podeszłym wieku zamieszkujące DPS.

The following article investigates the issue of alcohol abuse by elderly residents of social care homes. According to the main aim of the text, which is to describe the issue of alcohol abuse in social care homes, at first, the topic of alcoholism among the elderly was discussed by referencing to a theoretical view and statistical data. Further, the area of legal regulations for the functioning of social care homes dedicated to alcohol addicts was considered. The analysis of statutory regulations was extended by presenting the current data regarding the number of facilities functioning in Poland designated for alcohol addicts. In order to discuss the matter in the widest context, and for the formulation of recommended corrective actions and challenges for education to be possible, chosen empirical researches indicating currency and universality of the issue of alcohol abuse by elderly residents of social care homes was presented.

Celem artykułu jest ocena ustawodawstwa zapewniającego ustrojową ochronę praw osób w terminalnych stanach choroby, w kontekście analizy skali zjawi-ska terminalnych stanów chorobowych oraz zapotrzebowania w zakresie usług świad-czonych terminalnie chorym i ich rodzinom.

The aim of this article is to assess legal framework concerning institutio-nal protection of rights of people in terminal states of illnesses, in the context of the scale of terminal states of illnesses and the need for services aimed at terminal-ly ill and their families.

Marriage and family are very important values in the life of every human being. They play an important role in shaping the personality of its members, since the family is not without reason called as the basic unit of society. The institution of marriage and family is also a place to experience different emotions. We expect from family members interest, support and help when necessary. Sometimes, however, people who are so close to us cause pain, inflict pain, contribute to our crying or sadness. An example of the second type of situation is domestic violence. It is much more painful experience because is experienced from those who are the microcosm, are the closest to each other. In the present text we present the specifics of the problem of violence sustained by older people from the side of a spouse / partner. On the basis of the elderly women’s statements – the victims – the feelings that accompany them in connection with the experienced violence was showed. Article also brings an answer to the question whether the disclosure of one experiences grievances to the authorities, affects the stability of the institutions of marriage and the family.

Objectives: The general aim of this article is to propose a theoretical model for the determinants of the optimal (required) operating of the public sector, including financial decision making in the scope of the creation of law and its application. At the same time, authors assert that universal moral values affect and should affect the legal system (including the creation and application of law governing public finances). Research Design & Methods: Precisely in the context of the values mentioned below, authors have decided to verify to what extent the mentioned model works in practice (an initial practical test). For this purpose two pilot studies have been conducted by use of the diagnostic poll method. Findings: Although in common (i.e. public) conviction decision making by public authorities (including decisions on public spending) should be based on moral values culturally accepted by society (which are often reflected in binding law), the results of the afore-mentioned studies were less than conclusive. Recommendations: The results underlined the need for in-depth interdisciplinary research (both legal and sociological), mainly into the moral aspects of legislating with regard to public finances, both at the state and local levels. Contribution: Research into the issue of the role of morality in financial decision making in Poland has not been undertaken yet. The authors created (and proposed) a theoretical model for the optimal operating of the public sector and decided to test the validity of the assumptions of the basic elements thereof by way of pilot studies.
