The aim of the article is to analyze non-statistic methods of identifying key words (understood as units presenting special importance for a given culture and being a source of knowledge about it). The analyzed criteria of this identi cation are: the presence of the words in the given types of texts and in their speci c parts, undergoing semantic and pragmatic shifts, being a part of phraseo-logical units. The analysis is conducted mainly on the examples extracted form ChronoPress (The Chronological Corpora of Polish Press Texts 1945-1954) from 1945. The e ect of the survey is the evaluation of the abovementioned criteria in terms of their usefulness for identifying key words, followed by a description of the noticed problems and controversies as well as suggestions on finding solutions.

The tendency to simplify texts in public space has been on the rise in recent years in Poland. The idea is now reaching offices, banks, state institutions and the doctor-patient communication. The presented text is concerned with medical communication. It discusses the needs of the patient as a participant of this communication, from the perspective of plain language and the comprehensibility of the messages addressed to him or her. The main aims of the paper are: (1) checking the intelligibility of 16 chosen parent’s informed consent forms for anesthesiological procedure using the Jasnopis tool, (2) creating documentation of informed consent which is intelligible for people with primary education and compliant with legal requirements, (3) comparing new, plain documentation with 16 forms from medical facilities, (4) describing the examples of simplification which are possible to apply in chosen parts of 16 original informed consents.

W ostatnich latach wzrasta w Polsce zainteresowanie upraszczaniem tekstów, które funkcjonują w przestrzeni publicznej. Idea zaczyna trafiać do urzędów, banków, instytucji państwowych, a także do komunikacji lekarz – pacjent. Prezentowany tekst dotyczy komunikacji medycznej. Porusza temat potrzeb pacjenta jako uczestnika tej komunikacji z perspektywy prostego języka i zrozumiałości kierowanych do pacjenta komunikatów. Główne cele artykułu to: (1) sprawdzenie za pomocą narzędzia Jasnopis zrozumiałości 16 wybranych formularzy zgody rodziców na postępowanie anestezjologiczne w czasie zabiegu ich dziecka, (2) stworzenie dokumentacji składającej się na świadomą zgodę na znieczulenie dziecka, która byłaby zrozumiała dla odbiorcy z wykształceniem podstawowym i jednocześnie zgodna z wymogami prawa, (3) porównanie utworzonej dokumentacji z 16 formularzami z placówek medycznych, (4) omówienie przykładów uproszczeń, które można zastosować, na fragmentach wybranych z 16 oryginalnych formularzy zgody.
