The objective of his article is to present the concept of entrepreneurial management developed by Stevenson and Jarillo (1999) as well as is operationalization presented by Brown, Davidson and Wiklund (2001). The article presents research carried out in 236 Polish organizations, showing their dominant style of management , on the basis of the concept of entrepreneurial management.

Wpisanie przedsiębiorczości w nurt nauk o zarządzaniu poskutkowało potrzebą rozumienia tego zjawiska kategorami zarządzania, a zwłaszcza planowania i kontroli. Zgodnie ze znanym postulatem, że aby czymś zarządzać, należy to zmierzyć, narodziła się potrzeba wynikająca z praktyki, dotycząca pomiaru przedsiębiorczości w istniejacych organizacjach. Wielowymiarowość i wieloaspektowość przedsiębiorczości powoduje, że jej pomiar jest złożony i niejednoznaczny. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 308 organizacjach w Polsce, dotyczycącychpomiaru empirycznie wyróżnionych składników przedsiębiorczości, a także ich przełożenia na efektywnośc. W rezultacie podejmuje próbę zaproponowania przesłanek do takiego zarządzania elemntami przedsiębiorczości, które mogą się przełożyć na wyższą efektywność finansową organizacji.

This paper seeks to examine what are the empirical components of corporate entrepreneurship of the organizations in Poland, and which of them are correlated with financial performance to the highest extent, in order to indicate these elements of entrepreneurship that are worth developing to improve the standing of the corporations. The empirical research was carried out in the first half of 2006. The questionnaire assessed the level of corporate entrepreneurship and performance. It included operationalizations known in the literature (Entrepreneurial Management, Entrepreneurial Orientation, Entrepreneurial Performance Index, Corporate Entrepreneurship Activity Index). Performance was measured by both finicial indicators as well recent evidence (e.g. Carton & Hofer, 2006), show that certain organizational entrepreneurship components play a central role in the enhancement of organizational performance. This study contributes to several of research. First, it adds to the entrepreneurship literature by demonstrating a relaitonship between the empirically found components of entrepreneurship and performance. Second, an empirical model is built showing what influences performance in entrepreneurial and fast-growing organizations. The practical implication entrepreneurial activity when designing the performance measurement and management systems.
