Tematem artykułu jest prezentacja stanu obecnego oraz uwarunkowań dalszego rozwoju jeździectwa w regionie Mazowsza, potencjałów i najistotniejszych barier uczestnictwa, a także możliwości znoszenia ograniczeń oraz działań na rzecz upowszechnienia sportu i rekreacji jeździeckiej. Jest to jeden z wątków tematycznych wieloletnich i wieloetapowych badań prze-prowadzonych w wybranych ośrodkach jeździeckich w Warszawie i gminach sąsiednich (w latach 2008–2019). Badania teoretyczne i terenowe (empiryczne) na temat oferty ośrodków jeździeckich w warunkach miejskich (Warszawa) i podmiejskich (gminy sąsiednie) były podjęte w ramach wieloletnich i wieloetapowych projektów statutowych ds.-144, ds.-300 oraz ds.-316, realizowanych na Akademii Wychowania Fizycznego Józefa Piłsudskiego w Warszawie, finansowa-nych przez Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego. Dorobkiem wątku tematycznego badań na temat sportowej i rekreacyjnej jazdy konnej była rozprawa doktorska autorstwa dr Natalii Łukasik ‘Społeczne i kulturowe uwarunkowania rozwoju jeździectwa w Warszawie i gminach sąsiednich’ (promotor prof. Anna Pawlikowska-Piechotka), obroniona na Wydziale Wy-chowania Fizycznego AWF w Warszawie. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje zarys założeń badań, uzyskane rezultaty na podstawie analizy uporządkowanego materiału badań oraz wysunięte syntetyczne wnioski końcowe.

The aim of this paper is the presentation of present state and conditions for the future development of equestrianism in the Mazovia Region (Poland). Considered are potentials and the most important barriers, as well as the possibilities of lifting restrictions and objectives for the dissemination of sport and recreational equestrian. This is one of the thematic threads of research conducted by authors in the selected equestrian clubs in Warsaw and neighbouring communes (in 2008–2019). Theoretical and field (empirical) research on the present offer of equestrian clubs in urban (Warsaw) and suburban (neighbouring) communes was undertaken as part of the long-term and multi-staged statutory projects ds-144, ds-300, ds-316 financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and carried out at the Joseph Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education. Some of the outcomes focused on the sports and recreational horse riding were subjects of the doctoral dissertation, successfully presented by Dr Natalia Łukasik: “Social and cultural conditions for the development of equestrianism in Warsaw and neighbouring communes” (supervisor: Anna Pawlikowska-Piechotka). This article presents an outline of research assumptions, results based on the analysis of the research material and advanced synthetic conclusions.

The history of the Joseph Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw has had its beginnings only ten years after the end of the First World War. Historically, it was a time of the establishing the Second Polish Republic, as a result of the Versailles Treaty (1918). It was not a period conducive to such ambitious investments, but after regaining independence, there was determination to resurrect in a free country – at all costs – the cultural life, education and sport, in aim to bring up the young generation in accordance with the latest European principles. The year 2019 was a special year, due to the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw. In the years 1929–2019, the walls of the university left more than 50,000 graduates, numerous doctors and habilitated doctors were promoted, and serious research and development potential was built. Currently, at the five faculties, study about 4,557 students. All graduates are highly qualified to meet the needs of the 21st century society: they are employed as teachers, trainers, instructors, physiotherapists, nurses, cosmetologists and occupational therapy specialists - they are highly appreciated in Poland and other countries in Europe. On the occasion of the Jubilee, numerous scientific conferences, symposia, publications, exhibitions, sporting and cultural events were organized, for highlighting the tradition and summarizing the achievements of the Joseph Pilsudski University of Physical Education.

Historia Akademii Wychowania Fizycznego Józefa Piłsudskiego w Warszawie ma swoje początki zaledwie w kilka lat po zakończeniu pierwszej wojny światowej. Był to trudny okres odbudowy kraju ze zniszczeń i tworzenia niepodległej Polski – II RP. Nie był to czas sprzyjający kosztownym, wielkim inwestycjom, jednak uznano wagę odbudowy kultury, nauki, edukacji i sportu zgodnie z najnowszymi europejskimi trendami. Rok 2019 był rokiem szczególnym z uwagi na 90. rocznicę powołania uczelni. W latach 1929–2019 mury warszawskiej Akademii Wychowania Fizycznego Józefa Piłsudskiego opuściło ponad 50 000 absolwentów, wypromowano licznych doktorów i doktorów habilitowanych, zbudowano poważny potencjał naukowo-badawczy. Obecnie na pięciu wydziałach i dziewięciu kierunkach studiuje 4557 studentów. Absolwenci mają wysokie kwalifikacje, odpowiadające potrzebom społeczeństwa XXI wieku: są zatrudniani jako nauczyciele, trenerzy, instruktorzy, fizjoterapeuci, pielęgniarze, kosmetolodzy i specjaliści terapii zajęciowej – są wysoko cenionymi specjalistami zatrudnianymi w Polsce i w innych krajach w Europie. Z okazji jubileuszu organizowane są konferencje naukowe, sympozja, wystawy, imprezy sportowe i kulturalne, wydawane publikacje – podkreślające chlubną tradycję i podsumowujące znaczący dorobek uczelni.
