Nauczyciel jest uważany za eksperta w zakresie instruowania i procesu kształ-cenia zgodnie z ustawą nr 138/2019 Rady Narodowej Słowacji o kadrze nauczycielskiej i profesjo-nalnym personelu w środowisku nakierowanym na tworzenie optymalnego klimatu szkolnego.

The paper deals with the main aspects of teacher competencies with theoretical specification of the essence of competencies and extension of the requirements for the teaching profession. The teacher is considered an expert on instructional and teaching processes under the conditions of Act No. 138/2019 Coll. on teaching staff and professional personnel in the environment aimed at creat-ing an optimal school climate.

The Slovakian society, in which various national and ethnic groups have coexisted for long time, has in fact been a multiethnic society for decades. This becomes more tangible when we consider the fact that not only whole nations and ethnic groups, but also smaller intellectual, family and other groups, that exist within the society, are attributed by their own culture. Each culture (as well as subculture) is defined by its own identifying signs. The last decade has seen changes such as economic reforms that led to growing social and cultural differences between various groups in the population. These differences are reflected in schools, where they make teaching and learning more difficult and contribute to social exclusion.

John Amos Comenius's pedagogical views and his original approaches to the problem solving of the back in the day society represent one of the newest origins of the development of modern humanistic pedagogy in the world. Comenius’s concept of education, and correction of the world and human life has outstripped the time and influenced social thinking of that time in Slovakia. Spreading his ideas in the Central European area is credited to multiple important personalities of Slovak pedagogy of 20th century as well as contemporary Slovak university teachers and teachers of elementary and secondary schools.
