The article describes a magazine „Komunikaty Instytutu Bałtyckiego” and the issue of the Polish Navy presented in it in 1918-1939, 1939-1947 and in the post-war period. The periodical in 1988-2012 became one of the magazines – mainly next to Biuletyn Historyczny issued by Museum of the Navy in Gdynia and Przegląd Morski, where there appeared widely understood materials concerning sea war matters. The presented articles concern biographic and cadre issues of the Navy as well as matters of education, conceptions of its usage and its development. Besides, in the magazine, there were also reviews and descriptions of particular publications concerning the Navy. Authors of texts are mainly historians connected with Trójmiasto (Tricity) from Universities like University of Gdańsk or the Naval Academy in Gdynia.
