The goal of this analysis is the presentation of the condition of Higher Education in Małopolska Region compared to the state of national development and how it impacts on local growth.The article has four parts.The first one discuses Polish system of higher education. It reviews the numbers of studentsand graduates setting in different types of higher schools and the specializations. Also it introduces elements of Bologna accords realized in Poland.The second part considers the potential for research in higher schools and the curriculum foryoung teachers. The problems of doctoral programs as the third stage of higher education areparticularly important for the education of young teachers. The research conducted by higherschools are significant too.The third part presents the problems of finance for both public and non-public higher schoolsin Poland. The government expenses and investments in higher schools as well as the structureof incomes from operational activity of higher schools were analyzed in reference to the didacticactivities and the research works and the business activities.The fourth part describes SWOT analyses of higher schools in Ma³opolsca Region. The closure consist of the conclusions and recommendations.

Opracowanie przedstawia analizę procesów suburbanizacyjnych w Polsce. W części pierwszej zaprezentowano uwarunkowania i konsekwencje tego zjawiska. Druga część zawiera analizę procesów suburbanizacji w Krakowskim Obszarze Funkcjonalnym w latach 2005–2014.

Artykuł prezentuje przekształcenie struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej w 18 miastach wojewódzkich w Polsce. Badania zostały oparte na danych przestrzennych z lat 2010 i 2014 dotyczących wybranych miast. Artykuł składa się z dwóch części. Pierwsza prezentuje strukturę i dynamikę przemian gospodarki gruntami, które zostały podzielone na użytki, lasy, obszary zielone i tereny zabudowane. Badania 18 miejskich obszarów wskazują główne grupy przestrzeni: dzielnic mieszkaniowych, okręgi przemysłowe, inne tereny zabudowane, obszary rekreacyjne, obszary komunikacyjne. Druga część artykułu przedstawia analizę porównawczą struktury ziemi w miastach na podstawie form własności. Zawiera również źródła dochodu budżetowego z wszystkich form gospodarki przestrzennej w obrębie miast studiów przypadku. W podsumowaniu przedstawiono wnioski z prowadzonej analizy.

The paper presents the transformation of functional and spatial structure of 18 voivodship cities in Poland. The study is based on the data on the land records for the years 2010 and 2014, collected in the city survey departments of the selected cities. The paper consists of two parts. The first part presents the structure and dynamics of the land according to the forms of land use that have been divided into agricultural land, forests, green areas and built-up and urbanized land. The detailed analysis of urban areas of 18 cities is provided for the main groups of residential areas, industrial areas, other built-up areas, urban areas, recreational areas, communication areas. The second part of the article presents a comparative analysis of the structure of land in the cities based on the forms of the ownership. It also contains the sources of the budget revenue from all forms of the land management within the case cities. In summary, the paper presents the conclusions of the conducted study.

The main objective of the article is to depict the financial aspects of the urban area development. The paper is divided into two major parts. The first one in theory presents legal determinants to provide the city budget with income from real estate management, and the financial results for adopting implementing rules concerned the city master plans. The second empirical part contains the analysis of the land development and spatial – landscaping transformations in Cracow. The authors also studied the real estate financial city reports in the marginal years available for research 2005–2010.
