Poland, after the Second World War, was in communist bloc. Due to immense political changes which took place against religion and Church. Legal situation of the Church in the Communist Period was extremely difficult because legal status of the Church had not been regulated. The article includes a legal situation of Catholic Church in Polish People’s Republic. At the beginning it was defined the term of “communist regime” regarding churches and other religious unions. The grounds for communist regime is ideological and political monism . It is characterized by negative opinion of religion’s role in social life. Society was manipulated by big discrepancy between statutory law and its application. The following article shows the application of communist regime in Poland. Polish society resisted against the application of that system. Political system against the Church were changing within the years. Finally, the Author showed that dialogue between the Church and communist authorities had a material impact on the legal regulation.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie roli okresu propedeutycznego w Kościele partykularnym, w formacji kandydatów do kapłaństwa. Okres propedeutyczny jest odpowiedzią na postanowienie ojców soborowych aby formację seminaryjną dostosować do potrzeb Kościołów partykularnych. Pastores dabo vobis pokazuje konieczność wprowadzenia takiego okresu. Kongregacja ds. Wychowania Katolickiego wydaje dokument informacyjny w celu pokazania istniejących modeli i zainspirowania do nowych badań. Głównym zadaniem okresu propedeutycznego jest uzupełnienie braków w aspekcie formacji duchowej, ludzkiej i intelektualnej. W związku z różnorodnością potrzeb duchowych i psychicznych w poszczególnych Kościołach prawodawca pozostawia biskupowi diecezjalnemu swobodę w zorganizowaniu tego okresu. Konferencja Episkopatu Polski uznała konieczność wprowadzenia tego okresu we wszystkich polskich diecezjach i określiła podstawowe jego zadania pozostawiając biskupowi diecezjalnemu sposób realizacji.

The aim of the article is to show the role of propedeutic period in the particular Church, in the formation of candidates for priesthood. The propedeutic period is a response to the decision of the Fathers of Vatican Council to seminary formation adapted to the needs of the particular Church. Pastores dabo vobis shows the need for this period. The information document of Congregation for Catholic Education seems to show existing models and inspire new research. The main task of the propedeutic period is to compensate for shortcomings of spiritual, human and intellectual formation. Due to the diversity of spiritual and psychological needs of particular churches the legislature offers freedom of organize leaves it at the discretion of the diocesan bishop. Polish Bishops’ Conference recognized the need for this period in all Polish dioceses and identified its basic tasks, and entrusted their implementation into the hands as the diocesan bishop to carry out.
