The article presents an overview of legal and ethical frameworks that are specific to therapeutic work with children/adolescents. It highlights the inconsistencies in their interpretation primarily in the legal field in different sectors. It focuses on children,s rights vs. the needs of parents in the therapeutic context and essentials of the application of ethical principles and practical topics including informed consent, confidentiality, and possibility of minors to seek meetings with psychologists without parental consent.

Štúdia sa zaoberá špecifikami právnych a etických aspektov poradenskej/terapeutickej práce s deťmi a adolescentmi. Týka sa práv dieťaťa a ich možných stretov s rodičovskými (napr. žiadať o poradenstvo bez súhlasu rodiča; povinnosť informovať rodiča či tretiu stranu vs narušenie dôvernosti poradenského vzťahu a i.). Autorky zvažujú, ako eticky vyvážiť rešpektovanie autonómie dieťaťa s pomáhaním a jeho ochranou, ako pracovať kompetentne a s rešpektom voči dieťaťu v súlade s prístupom, ktorý vníma dieťa ako aktívneho činiteľa s vlastnými právami. Základnou pomocou pre odborníkov/čky je opierať sa o zákony a etické kódexy, hoci tieto nie sú jednoznačné, neposkytujú priame návody a pre rôzne rezorty v SR sa líšia.
