The article explores issues related to literature in the context of “Polish School” abroad, focusing on the attitudes of the student and teacher, and the scope and quintessence of the educational message that is, what should “Saturday School” teach when dealing with Polish as second, and at times even foreign language. The suggested teaching strategy is that of language-literary teaching, in which both components komplement each other. The Polish Literature Textbook. Texts and Exercises addressed to “Polish high school” students serves to illustrate this method of teaching.

Artykuł dotyczy zagadnień ze świata szkoły polonijnej i literatury, postaw ucznia i nauczyciela, a także odnosi się do zakresu i kwintesencji przekazu edukacyjnego, czyli do tego, czego w istocie szkoła polonijna powinna (na)uczyć, zajmując się językiem polskim jako drugim, a niekiedy – jako obcym. Sugerowana strategia dydaktyczna to nauczanie językowo-literackie, w którym oba komponenty wzajemnie się dopełniają. Ilustracją tego sposobu nauczania jest podręcznik Literatura polska. Teksty i ćwiczenia skierowany do uczniów liceów polonijnych.

The paper contains a short overview of the currently used methods of teaching Polish as a foreign language and a discussion of some phenomena related to interculturalism. The essential element of the paper is the linguistic and cultural teaching proposal based on a short story by Sławomir Mrożek titled Rewolucja (Revolution).
