The subject of the study was empirical analysis in the so-called segmentation, classification analysis. "Cluster" analyzes were used in the evaluation of the development of European e-society. The diagnosis – statistically significant – separated the „similar” and „divergent” level of development of information societies for each of the EU-27 in 2011. In the first analysis was presented the quantitative data presented on the indicators associated only with the measurement of the information society; in the second – connected data categories of information society measurement of parameters of economic welfare (as a stimulant – national income per capita and destimulant – an indicator of poverty). Analysis confirmed the thesis of the existing disparities in the evaluation of the level of development of information societies among the EU-27.
W pracy dokonano przeglądu – w ujęciu historycznym – zagadnień dotyczących kwestii pomiaru dobrobytu jednostki i dobrobytu społecznego. Przedstawiono kolejne etapy ewolucji i pomiaru użyteczności. W tradycji nauk ekonomicznych dobrobyt ekonomiczny (welfare) utoż-samiany był z użytecznością dochodów. Początkowo oznaczało to kardynalny charakter pomiaru, a następnie ordynalny charakter, tj. utylitaryzm porządkowy, który przyjął teorię i poglądy włoskiego ekonomisty V. Pareta. Współcześnie ocena dobrobytu jednostki wychodzi poza ekonomię dobrobytu, a pomiar staje się coraz bardziej skomplikowany i wielowymiarowy, obejmując sferę materialną i pozamaterialną łącznie. Pomiar obiektywny i subiektywny dobrobytu musi być dodatkowo wspierany naukami pozaekonomicznymi, stając się równocześnie bardziej skomplikowany.

The principal problematic issue in welfare economics is the question how to measure the wealth of economic, how to measure an individual well-being or social welfare. Historically, theoretical studies focused on issues concerning on the one hand, the creation of wealth, on the other – equitable criteria’s for the distribution of produced wealth. In the past theories and economic rights of explaining these problems were created. The paper presents review from the historical perspective issues, relating to the measurement of the social welfare and the individual well-being. In the tradition of economic, welfare was identified with the utility of income. The article shows the successive stages of evolution of the measurement of utility. Initially was used cardinal nature of the measurement, then ordinal utilitarianism – which adopted the theory and the views of the Italian economist V. Pareto. Against utilitarianism have spoken out economists: Hicks, Allen, Houthakker, Samuelson, Arrow, Debreu and Rawls. Also contemporary trends of welfare, based on the concept of A. Sen's capabilities was presented. They were explained current concepts, that exceed the measurement (the utility of income) more widely towards of quality of life and well-being assessment. Contemporary evaluation of welfare extends beyond welfare economics and the measurement. It becomes more complicated and multidimensional, including material and nonmaterial sphere. The measurement of objective and subjective welfare must be supported by non-economic sciences, becoming also more complicated.
In this article the issue of economic inequality, in particular subjective opinions of the public acceptance and aversion of economic inequalities have been presented. Based on own survey a statistically significant correlations between the assessments of inequality and the assessments of satisfaction with the achieved quality of life, salaries or having savings were analyzed. Is also presented - in terms of time - changes of the measure of income inequality in Poland.
The paper discusses the application of tools of multivariate analytical methods i.e., logistic regression, to model the subjective assessment of satisfaction/dissatisfaction with quality of life achieved. Based on empirical data from a random sampling of households in Podkarpacie province, the statistical significance of variables was estimated, which enabled the estimation of the value of life quality based entirely on qualitative variables, that are characteristic for a given household, with incomes being excluded. The essence of the regression is to seek such household related parameters, that could have varying degrees of impact on the occurrence of either negative or positive values. The models have been designed based on varied classification categories for households, thus allowing for both the quantitative analysis and comparison of the impacts of key cardinal determinants of values of life.
W pracy na podstawie danych ankietowych dotyczących próby losowej gospodarstw domowych (w woj. podkarpackim) omówiono przykład zastosowania liniowej funkcji dyskryminacyjnej do modelowania ubóstwa ekonomicznego gospodarstw domowych. Oszacowany istotny statystycznie model dyskryminacyjny pozwala identyfikować gospodarstwa domowe do kategorii ubogich/nieubogich w oparciu o zmienne charakteryzujące uwarunkowania danego gospodarstwa domowego, mające najczęściej charakter jakościowy, głównie demograficzno-społeczny.

The paper discusses an example of applying a linear discriminant function to model the economic poverty of households, on the basis of a survey conducted on a random sample of households in Podkarpackie province. The statistically relevant discriminatory model allows for the identification of poor / not poor categories based on mostly qualitative, demographic and social variables characterizing the households.
The paper presents the theoretical elements of the economic debate on the relationship be-tween inequality and prosperity and economic growth. Quantitatively, the derogation from the egalitarian distribution of income shows the Gini coefficient. The work concerns the comparison and evaluation of income inequality based on the Gini index and other measures (indicators diver-sity quintal) for the EU-27 in 2006–2010. Moreover, income inequality is shown in the long term for the Poland and Europe countries and making the assessment of inequalities for certain social groups and Polish regions.

Skalę nierówności dochodowych pokazano w dłuższej perspektywie w skali międzynarodowej, a także przedstawiono ocenę nierówności w odniesieniu do niektórych grup społecznych, a zwłaszcza regionów polskich.
