The purpose of the article is to present the concept of a thesis on practical social studies. The article is based on experience related to the preparation of implementation works under the project Program of apprenticeships at the State Higher Vocational Schools in the field of Pedagogy at the State Higher Vocational School in Chełm. The diploma theses were prepared in accordance with the principles of the Learning by Developing method, in close cooperation of the student with the supervisor and employer's representative, who acted as the company apprenticeships' supervisor.

Health is one of the most important values in every person's life. A healthy lifestyle should be an important element in the value hierarchy of children and adolescents. Health behaviors are one of the most important determinants of human health and are the basis for the correct development of children. The aim of the article is to provide feedback to students at a younger school age on health behavior and health in their personal value hierarchy.

Developing a healthy lifestyle is one of the priority education aims in Belarus. The most important requirements for the organization of the educational process are: protection of the students’ health (in particular, promoting and inculcating healthy lifestyle habits, creating conditions for taking care of physical culture and sport, prevention of smoking, drinking, using drugs and psychotropic substances, etc. .); compliance with sanitary norms, rules and hygienic standards; creating secure conditions for the organization of the educational process. The aim of the article is to present basic legal documents and curricula associated with the formation of the healthy lifestyle among students in early school age.

Reading, which is the practice of transferring knowledge through printed word, has never been very popular in Poland. At the root of this situation there laid state as well as peasant and proletarian character of the basic social classes in the past. Further retreat from the books was caused by the development of new media an consumption. Regardless of this, literature had developed the basic canons of values that for centuries have been and still are the basic of general education and culture. The book remains the primary medium of dealing with the past in historical education. The main motives for reading are: scientific (cognitive) and utilitarian (practical) reasons. The first of these relate to the world of scholars, the second shall be extended to all social circles. These include educational, technological, political, cultural, compensational, personal, artistic, ludic and many other motives. A large part of the modern readers use new carriers of the culture of language. They use the digital record. This helps to extend the reach of content and ideas created on the basis of literature. This causes that the alarming diagnosis and visions of readership should be judged with greater serenity and distance.

The issue of values in the process of bringing up children is still valid in the literature connected with pedagogy. The main purpose of this article is to show the hierarchy of values among children at younger school age. The problem of importance of the values in the young children’s lives will be presented on the basis of the own research conducted among primary school pupils from Aberdeen.
