The purpose of the article is to present the results of the study on entrepreneurship and its evaluation at macro-level. The study is conducted in the context of the imperfections of indicators used and future research needs. The methods applied in the study are: the analysis and criticism of the literature on the subject. The starting point for the study is to conceptualize the entrepreneurship comprehensively. Then the article presents used measures of the entrepreneurship. Finally, there is an attempt to identify the directions for future research on entrepreneurship at macro-level. The query of literature on defining entrepreneurship and its measurement did not bring unambiguous results. Entrepreneurship is an extremely complex issue that causes a lot of methodological limitations. Establishing a modular indicator at country level can determine the development of the entrepreneurship research in general. It can have key meaning from cognitive as well as applied perspective.

One of the principal aim of EU structural policy is development’s disproportion reduction between member states and their regions. The main recipients of this policy, including Poland, are countries which are on the lower socio – economic development level. In spite of these facts, the investigation doesn’t support unequivocal results on the real convergence, particularly on regional level. According to theabove the article attempts to evaluate the meaning of convergence in European Union’s structural policy indefinitegoalsas well as in reality by using β -beta and σ – sigma coefficients for national and regional scrutiny. The analysis confirms convergence process on national level and divergence on regional one. Finally, the article tries to asset how important the convergence will be in the next programming period. The basis for concluding are: recommendation from Fifth Cohesion Report, Strategy Europe2020 and positions of the EU’s member states.

The article focuses on the international environment, which is one of the main variables in the internationalization process of firms from the perspective of international entrepreneurship. The main goal of this study is the identification of the key factors in the internationalization of the firms, inherent in the international environment, and the exploration of the impact of these factors on the process of the internationalization of Polish firms. The paper presents the partial results of a survey based on a sample of 355 companies operating in Poland. The questionnaire was completed in 2015 as a part of the OPUS 4 project as carried out at the Cracow University of Economics. Using information from Polish companies, the study finds that pull factors have a positive influence on the level of internationalization of the examined businesses. Production companies are the main beneficiaries of the internationalization process and Polish born globals take advantage of their adjustments to the ecology. The results presented in the article are just a starting point for further analyses, including not only the simple seven-dimensional PLESCET approach, but also the process of organizational learning, the accumulation of knowledge coming from the environment, and the taking advantage of environmental opportunities.
