Artykuł omawia proces formowania się struktury społecznej Donbasu i kształtowania jego specyfiki na tle innych regionów, które wchodzą w skład państwa ukraińskiego. Uwzględniono szczególnie procesy industrializacji, powstania kultury górniczej, a także stosunku do języka i kultury rosyjskiej mieszkańców regionu, co w znacznej mierze zaważyło na odrębności Donbasu na tle innych części państwa. W momentach kryzysów politycznych odrębność ta ujawnia się w formie postulatów separatystycznych wobec Kijowa, będącego wyrazem autentycznej woli mieszkańców ukraińskiego Donbasu.

The article concerns the process of raising the social structure in Donbas, creating its specificity against the background of the other parts of Ukrainian state. Processes of industrialization were especially mentioned, as well as the development of miners’ culture and the attitude to Russian language, which were the key factors influencing the distinctiveness of the region. In the moments of political crises this distinctiveness is expressed in the form of authentic separatist tendencies and demands of independence from the side of Ukrainian Donbas' inhabitants.
