W wywo łanym konferencją niniejszym sprawozdaniu autor stawia kwestię: na ile dorobek Karola Adamieckiego – tak nowatorski przed stuleciem – stanowi inspirację do poszerzania pola współczesnych dociekań, a na ile staje się przedmiotem interpretacji przekraczającej granice wiarygodności? Odwołując się do prezentowanych wystąpień, można dylemat ująć jak następuje. (1) We współczesnych naukach o zarządzaniu istnieje stale obecne nawiązywanie do dorobku przeszłości, w tym przypadku do Adamieckiego harmonizacji działania, czego przejawem są różne propozycje i poszukiwania w obrębie zarządzania procesami organizacji. Ani przez moment nie została ta inspiracja podana w wątpliwość. (2) Niesieni twórczą weną interpretacji inni autorzy poszli dalej, widząc w dziele Adamieckiego podstawę do formułowania projekcji, których w dorobku klasyka nauki organizacji wprost nie było. Te błyskotliwe propozycje rodzą otwarte pytanie o ich prawomocność, zaś kryterium przesądzającym o ich akceptacji, jak się wydaje, może być tylko rzetelność badawcza interpretującego autora.

In this report inspired by the conference, we raise a question of how much the works of Karol Adamiecki – so innovative one century ago – constitute an inspiration for widening the areas of contemporary research or whether they become a subject of interpretation that goes beyond the borders of credibility. Referring to the presentations, this dilemma may be perceived in the following way. 1) Reference to the works of the past exists permanently in contemporary science of management, being in this case the reference to Adamiecki’s harmonisation of labour which manifests in various proposals and research regarding organisational processes management. This inspiration has never been questioned. 2) Other authors, carried by a creative vein of interpretation, went further as they saw in Adamiecki’s work the basis for formulating projections which had been actually lacking in the creation of this management science classic. These brilliant proposals raise, however, questions concerning their legitimacy and the decisive criterion allowing one to accept them should be, as it seems to us, only the scientific reliability of the author of the interpretation.

W roku akademickim 2021/2022 Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Katowicach świętował 85. rocznicę powstania. Kulminacja obchodów miała miejsce 11 stycznia 2022, w dniu w którym w 1937 roku odbyła się inauguracja nauczania i pierwszy wykład. Uczelnia od samego początku posiadała profil organizatorski realizowany na Wydziale Organizacji Przemysłowej. Był to jedyny taki przypadek w polskim szkolnictwie wyższym. Dlatego niekiedy nazywana była „szkołą biznesu” (school of business). Ponowny rozkwit nastąpił w końcu lat 50. XX wieku, kiedy dzięki prof. Marianowi T. Frankowi (1910–1979) zaczęto na dużą skalę uprawiać ekonomikę i organizację przedsiębiorstw. Okres ten można nazwać katowicką szkołą zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem. Także następne dekady przyniosły znaczące dokonania, szczególnie w zakresie zarządzania strategicznego.

In the academic year 2021/2022, the University of Economics in Katowice celebrated its 85th anniversary. The culmination of the celebrations took place on January 11th, 2022, on the day of the inauguration of teaching and the fist lecture in 1937. From the very beginning, the university had a theory of organization profile implemented at the Faculty of Industrial Organization. It was the only profile of this kind in Polish higher education. Therefore it was sometimes called the „school of business”. It flourished again at the end of the 1950s, when, thanks to prof. Marian Frank (1910–1979), academics began to cultivate the economics and organization of enterprises on a large scale. This period can be called “the Katowice school of economics and industrial enterprise management”. The following decades also brought further achievements, especially in the field of strategic management.
