The article contains an analysis of quantitative and assortment changes in the local production of basic building materials in the Łódź administrative province between 1983 and 1986. The basis for evaluation of a degree of satisfaction of the provinces needs were indices concerning volume of production of a given material in relation to the planned or actually built number of flats in the one-family housing construction in the Łódź administrative province. The analysis covered the following building materials: wall materials (without prefabricated large-size elements), building aggregate concrete products, particle - cement boards, wooden floor materials and window and door wood work. The analysis shows that the situation in the field of local production of building materials is unfavourable in the administrative province of Łódź and it steadily deteriorates becoming a major barrier limiting thes cale of construction of one - family houses. The final part of the article discusses directions of activities in dispensable in order to improve this situation.

Ihe article contains findings of the studies on state and degree of use of one of the most important factors of production such as fixed assets. The studies encompassed enterprises executing tasks in the sphere of socialized, multi-family housing construction. These were five construction combines, which have been implementing 97-99% of tasks in this sphere in the Łodź administrative province in recent years. The analysis covered the years 1978 and 1985. The findings of the studies revealed that in the mid-eighties (in comparison with 1978) productivity and, thus, also degree of use of fixed as sets in the enterprises under study were considerably lower and that not only in absolute numbers but also against the background of average effects obtained by socialized construction-assembly enterprises in Poland.
