The paper shows, what information about domestic violence you can obtain from statistical data which police has at one's command, how the statistics are revolted and what difficulties are connected with their interpretation. It contains data concerning police intervention in confronting domestic violence and data about victims and offenders who were registered in 'Blue Cards' (introduced by the Police in 1998) in the years 1999-2005.The article also includes data about offences connected with domestic violence, wronged and suspected of family ill-treatment.
