Jednym z elementów zrównoważonego rozwoju miast jest ład środowiskowo- -przestrzenny. Składają się na niego różne aspekty, takie jak np.: ekologizacja plano-wania przestrzennego oraz ochrona przed powodziami (w ramach ochrony wód), które powinny być ze sobą powiązane. Planowanie przestrzenne winno uwzględniać ograniczenia środowiskowe, w szczególności ograniczenia w intensywnym zagospodarowaniu terenów zalewowych. Istotne jest dążenie do pogodzenia ze sobą tych sprzecznych często interesów, jakimi są presja na zagospodarowanie terenów zagrożonych wystąpieniem powodzi z wprowadzeniem na takich terenach ograniczeń np. w zabudowie. W artykule przybliżono ideę zrównoważonego rozwoju, ryzyko powodzi i sposoby zapobiegania szkodom powodziowym oraz przeprowadzono analizę miejscowych dokumentów planistycznych w mieście Strumień pod kątem wyznaczenia i zagospodarowania (ograniczeń w wykorzystaniu) stref zagrożonych zalaniem. Dokonano oceny polityki przestrzennej w mieście Strumień.

Spatial order is one of the elements of sustainable urban development. It consists of various aspects, for example: environmental planning and protection against floods, which should be connected with themselves. Spatial planning should take into account e nvironmental constraints, in particular restrictions on an intense development of the floodplains. It is important to reconcile with each other these often conflicting interests, like pressure on land - use areas where risk of flooding occurs with the introd uction of restrictions on such areas. In article were described the idea of sustainable development, the risk of flooding and wa ys of preventing flood damage. Analysis of local planning documents h as been carried out in Strumień for the delimitation and ma nagement of z ones threatened with flooding.
