Autor w formie wspomnienia o przyjacielu prezentuje postać i dokonania rosyjskiego filozofa, znawcy antyku i muzykologa Aleksjeja Fiodorowicza Łosiewa (1893–1988). Pisze o ich spotkaniu i pierwszych latach przyjaźni, wspólnych dyskusjach filozoficznych i współpracy naukowej. Przywiązuje dużą uwagę do samej prezentacji osoby filozofa, jego kolejach losu, zainteresowaniach a także jego miłości do książek i gromadzonej biblioteki. A.F. Łosiew w jego opinii to jeden z ostatnich przedstawicieli tzw. srebrnego wieku kultury rosyjskiej. Nazwisko Łosiewa widzi on obok takich rosyjskich myślicieli jak Władimir Sołowiew (+1900), Sergiej Bułhakow (+1944), Mikołaj Bierdiajew (+1948). We wspomnieniach zostaje przekazana atmosfera intelektualna oraz towarzyska w rosyjskich kręgach akademickich w czasach stalinizmu. Autor pisze także o powodach ochłodzenia ich wzajemnych kontaktów oraz zerwaniu łączących ich więzi intelektualnych.

The author depicts the character and the achievements of the Russian philosopher, scholar on antiquity and musicologist Aleksei Fedorovich Losev (1893–1988) in the form of the reminiscences about a friend. He writes about their acquaintance and first years of their friendship, common philosophical discussions and scientific cooperation. He pays special attention to the presentation of the personality of the philosopher, his turns of fate, his interests and his book addiction and his library. In his opinion A.F. Losev is the last representative of the era of so called Silver Age of Russian culture. The name of Losev is located in the same row as the names of such Russian thinkers as Vladimir Solovyov (+ 1900), Sergiej Bulhakov (+1944), Nikolai Berdyaev (+1948). The reminiscences show us the intellectual and friendly ambience in the Russian academic circles during the times of Stalinism. The author also writes about the reasons of cooling down the mutual contacts and break-off of their intellectual bonds.
